Man I got this game in 1999 and ive played it ever since that year and i beated it 10 times.This game is so much fun and i think it is the best FF series because you get to play cards and get alot of GFs and if you get the FF guide look at it lol so much to get and secrets.

Hell yeah! This is my favourite too. I got this game in 1999/2000 and had many of the best moments in my whole gaming history. Soon somebody broke this game, and it took some years to get this again. In 2002 (i think) i got this again, but 4. disc was broken... sad... And now, after 5 years i'm going to clear this. When i clear this, im going to replay it.

i don't know... i think ffix is better.

in ffix, you can still play cards (even though ffviii's is easier ) and the GF's are summons and i like following the storyline.

i wasn't trying to be condesending or anything i just made a suggestion thats all.

Though not the worst in the series by a long shot, it's my least favorite of the PlayStation's line-up.

My biggest gripe is the fact that enemies' stats increase exponentially as you level up. It just kills any incentive to bother with random encounters. If you can run away from every optional fight and still beat the game with flying colors, something's wrong. The same can be said for having to use your GFs' attacks nonstop to get by on account of supercharged monsters.

I'm sure the people at Squaresoft went with that system in an effort to force players to depend more on strategy than just level grinding and overpowering adversaries, but it resulted in a broken battle system.

Character development was also a bit lacking in this one. The revelation at Trabia Garden on disc two was decent, but there was still a lot of ground left uncovered. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember there being any explanations for why each character decided to enlist in a program that cranks out mercenaries. What happened to everyone after they left home?

This game is truly great. I haven't ranked it, but it's a spectacular game.

When I got bored of FFVII and found out that there is a FFVIII I just ordered it online and played it from there. My first impressions comprised of a cool main character, lots of GFs. My only complaints was the Junction System. I was still moderately young and I didn't fully understand it but now I find the system ingenious.

I agree, almost... My first times i played this i did'nt actually know how to play this. It was maybe 1-3 months later when i learned to play this (i still did'nt know how to use junction, but whatever). I have many good memories... *sniff*

I remember loosing against the big bird on top of the tower on my first play through. I was furious, and in my rage, I smacked my pet pigeon.
