levelling, good/bad?

hey, i'm sure there's a thread on this already but i'm not going through the hundreds of threads just to check and add on one.

so, i was just wondering what the big deal about levelling up was? i mean surely being level 100 is better than being level 20?

is there a draw back to being that high a level? if so how do you stop yourself levelling up?

everybody keeps saying they don't want to level up, but why?
it's better to be a high level right?

re: levelling, good/bad?

Much of the bosses are easier and have less HP if you don't level up.

I would say Leveling would be bad in this game...

re: levelling, good/bad?

Yep it's harder when you have higher levels, with low levels you are weak but so are your opponents, that makes the battles really easy...

but it ain't that funny if it's easy =P I always level up when i play the game

re: levelling, good/bad?

In this game, monsters level up with you, so if you're at a higher level, they become much stronger. The way the junction system works, you can still be pretty strong at a low level.

So you should just go about with your game and don't bother with fighting any unnescessary battles.

re: levelling, good/bad?

Just go for the best junctions and weapons: if you get those, levels don't matter at all.

Don't avoid battles, don't overtrain either. Just do what's needed and you should be alright.

Rofl. Or be a dick like me. I only trained Quistis and Zell (most uselss characters ever) and I literally, used Break (Petrified) all my other characters to stop them from gaining exp. Takes alot of card games and card mod but yeah, you can do it. Hell, I had the Flamesabre before I even recruited Rinoa and as soon as I got Irvine I had enough materials for the Bismark and the Punisher. It's so fun tos ee Seifer get dropped in 1 hit of 'Attack' at the end of Disc 1. Same for Edea, though she took a Darkside...

I remember in End-game I foguht a ruby Dragon just for fun and had quistis us degenorator on it and got over 5K exp for some pople. I mean, Rinoa was still only lv 11. Most bosses fell in 1 hit. Then I stacked all my characters with + Up skills (Str Up, Vit Up) and leveled them. At lv 100 a good number we able to max a few things by juctioning weak Mag like Thundaga to it, which was pintless because now the last boss takes me 30minutes to kill, as opposed to the 6 minutes when they were all roughly at their begining level.

This actually made the bosses a whole lot easier. As for Omega weapon, All I did was have selphie enter the fight with 1 HP and continuously gambled for 'The End' and owned him without breaking a sweat. Yeah, I'm cheap but I'd beaten the game 5 times before so, really, piss off.

re: levelling, good/bad?

You'll need to level in order to not feel 'restrained' and you don't need to level otherwise the enemies will get stronger too

re: levelling, good/bad?

I'm at lvl 100 with Squall, Quistis and Seifer and all I do whenever I fight the final boss is cast Meltdown on boss, Aura on Squall and just use limit breaks on her when I get the chance. Plus if any of my characters are low on health I use Recover from Quistis and if any of them are KO'd then I use Revive from Squall. I dunno if it does more damage if you remodel your weapons but I do at least 8000 dmg with Lionheart during a single strike.

1 - How the hell doy uo ahve Seifer with Quistis
2 - Not leveling makes that *bleep*ing ruby Dragon in the Laguna Dream alot easier.

re: levelling, good/bad?

Oh yeah, wat's the big deal? Just level up lah.

That way, ya don't feel left out of something in the game. For example, monsters in Island Close to Hell/Heaven are always in level 100 no matter wat level ya in, so ya will be missing out in fighting them.

Also, low level means ya might be in disadvantage when fighting Ultimecia. She have this move where she could randomly throw away magic in yer arsenal. Don't tell me that ya are comfortable with fighting her with low-level magic.

At least, level Squall and gang up to level 50 - it should give ya access to Level 2 magic.
