If Laguna and Julia were to marry, the outcome could likely be that Ultimecia could likely to win and their World could come to an end.

Yes, Laguna could likely to be sent to war and could end up getting hurt and heal by Raine. However, he could not stick around long enough to get Raine pregnant and get back from Winhill as soon as he could. This could be cos Julia will be waiting for him at Deling City.

Now, once Laguna left, Esthar soldiers could likely to arrive and take the young Ellone away to Esthar (under the orders of Sorceress Adel who, at that time were looking for a heir to his/her powers).

In the original game, Laguna have left Winhill and Raine to go and look for Esthar, leaving the pregnant Raine to have the child (Squall) on her own. Now, because he was not there during that time, there could be no one to save Ellone and put Adel in the freezer.

And what happens once Ulti takes over Adel in the future? She could have Adel's memory and use it to go to the era where Adel was in contact with Ellone (which never happened in the game cos Squall killed Adel at the end of CD3 before that could happen).

And once Adel get possess of Ellone, she could perfect the Ellone Junction Machine (which exist in the future cos Doc Odine did do research on Ellone) and that could mean that everyone in that World could kiss their butt goodbye.

As ya could have seen, I didn't say that another soldier could be in Raine's arm, thus getting her pregnant. I said that Laguna could be sent to war and that part couldn't change. Which means that Laguna could have healed himself and left Winhill to go back to Deling City. In that context, Raine could not have become pregnant at all.

In such reality, it could be possible that Squall could have never been born. Laguna and Julia could end up with a single child - Riona and SeeDs could have lost a greater leader.

In order for Squall to be born - Laguna MUST be in Winhill without marrying to Julia and he MUST get Julia pregnant.

In order for Squall to face off with Ultimecia at the end of the game, Squall MUST be at the orphanage with the rest of the gang and he MUST have met Ellone in order for her to sent him into Laguna in the past (thus helping Laguna using junction magic to put Adel in the freezer and preventing Ulti to gain access to Adel).

ANY one outcomes of above did not match, it is game over. Cos if Laguna didn't go to Esthar to safe Ellone, Adel will not be in the freezer (with her power intact) and it could only be matter of time before Ulti finds a way to find her and possess her.

That could only happen IF :

1. Someone was as foolish as Laguna was in reading a map (remember, Laguna got injured cos he got his unit lost).

2. That person could end up with Kiros and Ward as his mate (which is unlikely since they are with Laguna). Why Kiros and Ward important? Kiros is a skillful warrior and Ward worked in the D-prison - a knowledge Zell used to save Squall and gang later in the game.

3. Raine could actually fall for the soldier. i give a 50-50 change on this one.

4. A Squall will be born by unification of this Soldier and Raine - very unlikely.

5. And that this soldier could be lucky enough to take on Adel and SURVIVE. Laguna survive cos his two friends and his quick thinking.

Ya see ... History is SUM of individuals' actions. Any time an individual changes the actions he is understanding, he could likely to change the outcome of his (and his kids') future.

Well, if ya believe in Soul, it is possible to say that ya will exist, but ya will not be the same person we know today. Ya will be different due to the change in genetic structure, thus whatever ya are doing now, and will be doing in the future could be differ (cos ya are different).

In the same way, Squall is Squall (which we know and love) simply cos he is the son of Raine and Laguna, and that fate had played his cards right to the point that he have become the SeeD that destined to defeat Ultimecia (something which is not possible without Laguna and Ellone).

When the Garden is mobile (CD2), ya can go to Winhill and Squall will see apparation of Raine in her former house. One of the townfolks will tell ya that a young lady used to live there but she died after getting involved with a Galbadian soldier (Laguna).

In the D-Prison, the Moombas will recognise Squall as Laguna.

Also, in the ending part, both Kiros and (muted) Ward will comment that it is lucky that Squall took the characteristics of his mother (Raine who behaves like him) rather than his father (Laguna).

N00B: But Squall doesn't look like Laguna!

Answer: After doing D-District go into Tutorial in the menu. Then go into Information then go into People and read the "Moomba" segment. It will say something like this; "A mutation of some unknown animal. Recognises people by licking their blood". Kids have virtually identical DNA to their mother or father(not a mix of both) thus meaning Squall took DNA from Laguna and thus the Moomba's tongue is a natural DNA Checker.

N00B: But Squall doesn't bleed at all!

Answer: At the end of disc 1 Squall gets an ice shard in the chest. Either Seifer, Edea, Irvine or Rinoa used something along the lines of Cura/Curaga/Life on him to keep him alive. But he would've been bandaged thus the bandage would have blood on. After the warden leaves the torture room the Moombas gather around Squall and most likely licked the bandage to see if it was anyone they knew.
It may be via some other way(e.g a graze, a cut, a friction burn, an electrical burn) which could've been weeping blood but I'm assuming it could've been the result of the life-threatening* injury at the end of Disc 1.


*=Well nothing in the FFVIII world is life threatening what with Life and Full-Life being available early Disc 2 which is where you should start having game overs(if you have a game over in disc 1 you're shite)
