If that would be something you guys would be up for. It is just an idea I've had.
Another question for you all, would you rather have two seperate threads for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings? Or one all encompassing thread for all things Tolkien? And once all of this is settled, all of you Tolkien lovers had better get in those threads and start posting! We haven't had a good discussion on anything by him in a long time! -------------------

The online short stories sounds great.
As for Tolkein, speaking for myself, I'm alright with one thread. -------------------

It would be easier to have one Tolkien thread I think. That way the lesser known stories like the histories get some attention.
In fact I think using a system where the Author is the title of the thread should be implemented over the forum as a whole. Have a thread for Tolkien, one for Robin Hobb, one for Robert Jordan etc. Then in a caption you can list their most famous works. Actually now that I write that out it doesn't sound as good. I'll still post it to put it out there but I'm now 50/50 on the idea. ------------------- ![]() † : Photography.B&L.Music

Some major writers should maybe just have their own thread. I'm not sure really. But for Tolkien I think one thread would be fine, like Euphoric said, his other works might get more attention.

quote Light DruidTwo shots in one sounds good, but the would be problem is having overly enthusiastic postees trying to start a new discussion by posting another subject from the Tolkien collections and we will have two full hands tackling so much discussions that will result in a cluttered thread. And we all know that Tolkien's works are ginormous. As a neophyte Tolkien nerd, a separate thread will work best. ------------------- "One Thong to Rule Them All"

Well, it's been awhile since we had some fresh ideas tossed out. Anything that's happened to cross your minds lately which would aid in building up the community spirit?

I need some opinions on an idea I've had. It seems that unlike almost all the rest of the lounges the one thing B&L seems to be lacking is a weekly topic thread of sorts. Methinks it could be a nice little addition to the forum, however I need some ideas for topics. We could do it by Time Periods, Genres, Authors, or others. What would you all suggest?

You mean have a weekly topic like "Classic Literature - From Homer to Senecca" or something like that? And we all discuss what we like/dislike about the genre/time period/vassever? I like the idea, the main problem is getting topics that are known enough for people to join in on. The fact is there's very few topics in B&L that will be constantly successful unless it's a long-running series like Harry Potter was or WoT.

That's very true. Possibly sticking to more of opinion based topics could weigh in to having more activity. I just floated Mishtram's thread about printed books going the same way as newspapers as the weekly discussion thread to possibly drum up some activity. As we get towards next week, or even right now, we could begin to come up with ideas for similar threads to discuss.

Need some ideas to bring some fresh life into the forum. As you can see it hasn't exactly been booming for the past week other than a couple of spurts. Anyone have any ideas for what we need?

I would suggest renaming books and literature as the pornography forum.
