Oh man, this book was amazing. It is probably my favorite in teh series. They go into more depth about Ja La d'h Jin and how all of that plays out, oh man! Amazing. ------------------- ![]()

Man, I just figured something out! I'll put it all in spoiler tags for people who haven't read it yet. Spoiler: The Sword of Truth Final Theme Highlight this box with your cursor to read the spoiler text. This series was a creation story about our world. Basically our world is the world Richard creates at the end with the Boxes of Orden. Richard is no longer remembered as an actual person, but as an ideal (Jennsen's view from the new world shows us this), much like God is portrayed not as a person, but as an ideal to live by. With this new view, I figured out one of the loose ends that had been bugging me: Shota's prophesy. If you read the actual text, which I still have to confirm, I am pretty sure that the prophesy never calls him a monster, just that he will be born with Richard's ability of both Subtractive and Additive magic and Kahlan's Confessor ability. Shota assumes, due to the past nature of male Confessors, that this baby will be a monster. However, most of her inferences like this are proven wrong, so I disregarded that whole thing. If you look at it like I just laid out, it makes this prophesy about Jesus. He had magical powers to heal any wound or ailment due to Subtractive and Additive magic (which are both neccessary to be a true healer, as shown with Nicci unknowingly proving that in Chainfire with the arrow) and can cause people to believe in him and to tell the truth. I always thought that these books put religion in a fairly negative light, what with the attacks pointed at Ann and the Sisters of Light, but this shows that Goodkind had a kind of reverance towards religion and made the whole series about religion. I was so excited when I figured this out. ------------------- ![]()

quote DivineDragonDitto...well, I won't be reading it until new years, I didn't bring it to my dad's, on account that It is big and all, and I have limited room in my bag, and I probably wouldn't have gotten around to it anyhow -_- -------------------

I hate having to wait for the paperback. But it would look really strange to have 10 paperback books and one hardback. Plus I just don't want to spend that much money on one book these days. But I still have the last two Harry Potter books and the Eragon books to go through. Also need to pick up Jordan's Knife of Dreams which I completely forgot about. Been a busy two years. ------------------- ![]() Education Forum|Books & Literature Forum

I used to always wait for the paperbacks, but then I just got so into the story that I needed the next books right when they came out. That happened around Pillars Of Creation actually. So I basically have 6 paperbacks and 5 hardcovers. It looks kind of weird, but I don't mind. -------------------

Eh, the trick is to read multiple series at once. George R.R. Martin has a good one. Jordan of course and so on. ------------------- ![]() Education Forum|Books & Literature Forum

Yeah, but I'm very picky when it comes to books. I don't really like to branch off very much, which is unfortunate. I've tried to read Jordan, and the Recluse series, but that didn't last long. Maybe I should pick them up again. -------------------

I'm kind of surprised you wouldn't like Jordan. It is probably one of the most similar series to Goodkind's there is. Typically people that like Goodkind like Jordan and vice versa. And George R.R. Martin is another that people like in that genre. J. Gregory Keyes is another good one. The Waterborn and Black God were good. Didn't care much for his Age of Unreason series though. And I lost Track of him after that. ------------------- ![]() Education Forum|Books & Literature Forum

Oh no, it's not that I didn't like them, I guess I just didn't want to get too involved in another series at the time. After I finish Confessor I'll try my hand at Jordan again, from what I remember, I did like it though. -------------------
