There are now individual forums for books? Isn't that a little silly. I prefer this generalisation that we have where all books are listed and categorised. -------------------

quote ZorroThrough clicking on a little plus sign next to each genre in the forum index. I don't really have an opinion on the books section. It's kind of cool for it to be there, and for Neo to have a database of books, but now I've seen the forums in action....or lack thereof, and can't really see the purpose. There aren't really many visitors there and the lack of promotion kind of doomed it from the start.

I love the books section. It's made me more interested in contributing to neo, since it's something I'm really knowledgable on, compared to the games and films (I'm not bad, but I'm better at the old titles, which already have enough information). And since contributing information on books has encouraged me to contribute in other ways (even indirectly leading to me making FF portal staff -------------------

I mean sure each book should have a profile and all. But do they really each need their own forum? It kind of makes this one obsolete, don't you think? -------------------

Every film has it's own forum, and the Movie forum is still going strong. -------------------

But that's a different kettle of fish, don't you think? I mean, a lot of people don't read books now. And a lot of books will not have large discussion forums because they either aren't popular, or aren't good book. -------------------

The two of you eh? I've been stalking this forum for ages. =( Anyway, I don't see that there's any particular problem with the way things are now. There are actually quite a few visitors to this forum, though they don't seem to post much.

It's true that there are less readers than movie watchers (I do both, I collect the books the films were made from, just to get the full story). Doesn't detract from the quality of discussion at all. I mean, Sheri S. Tepper isn't really mainstream, but when I found out that CURTCONNERS had read her books I bumped my old thread and we got four good pages of discussion out of it. -------------------

This forum won't necessarily become obsolete. It has plenty of non-specific literature discussion threads, as well as a couple of games. I bumped several general favorite-type threads a while back, but only a few seemed to catch on with the community.

quote Matt AddisonProblem is that a lot of books are out of print in various countries. I have maybe ten books each by Australian or American authors; the majority of my books are by english authors because I'm english. I'm betting the situation is similar in other countries. Unless we go with older classics like Mark Twain or Shakespeare, or something, which already have their own threads. Having said that has anyone else read the Princess Bride, by William Goldman? I'll make a thread on it if anyone wants to discuss it. [color=#666666]This message was edited by Yunalookalike on Apr 18 2006. -------------------

Generally I can get in any book I require. It's called a store named Borders. -------------------

Oy! If y'all are in the town book club, we're getting ready to start another book (A Clockwork Orange was too confusing): The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. State your position.

A Clockwork Orange was too hard to find in any stores, you mean, or just didn't appeal to enough people to warrant them to finish it. Confusion adds to the discussion material available. -------------------
