Neo Book Club? It's a good idea about only reading a certain section for discussion, but just how is that section to be determined? I remember Wo Daddy Wo started a thread sometime back that was quite similiar but used short stories. Perhaps that one should be revived?

As for book suggestions, how about Dune, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Donnerjack?

I'm sure neo would add them to the list, but are you going to participate? And what's Donnerjack? The name sounds familiar.

As far as the reading goes, we'll explain the organization after the voting is over; we'll give everyone a bit of time to make sure they have a copy of the book. Any input is welcome, as a lot of these things have not yet been set in concrete.

Donnerjack was one of Zelazny's last novels. I've probably mentioned it before. Anywho, fans of Robert Jordan and his Wheel of Time series would probably want to check out his six novels featuring Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian. They are much shorter than WoT (about 280 pages or so each), but are some enjoyable reading.

remember, anybody who likes fiction/alien books, read the fifth book of the series, the pendragon, that's coming out in january. i can't wait to get my hands on it...

Is the series called Pendragon or the book? And just what do aliens have to do with King Arthur of Camelot's last name anyway?

Dune is some tough reading I don't think to many people would enjoy it.

If you want a book club you have to get everyone to agree to read a book and start at the same time. Plus everyone needs to keep up so no one is left behind in the discussion. It could work but it has to be properly organized. You can only go as fast as the slowest reader in the group. Or eject him from the group.

Yeah, me and 'cloak had pretty much the same discussion. I've got too much going on to join a book club right now anyway.

I thought the activity here would hit a boon during the holidays, especially with people getting new books for Christmas and having more time to read, but I guess you're all cooping yourselves up in your damn bedrooms playing video games all day!

I haven't really read much this holiday. I've been busy with other crap.
I meant to bring my book when I went on a small one day trip yesterday, but I forgot it. x_x

I tend to read more when school is in than when it's out, oddly enough.

Or perhaps they are cooped up reading the books they got recently. Nothing new this forum seems to peak and fall constantly. Mostly having to do with releases of major books like HP and WOT.
