re: Controller or Pad?

There's a lot of players who do both. When I first started, I used the controller only for all the songs...so I could learn them. Now I'm looking forward to a whole bunch of new songs that I can end up dancing to. The game's fun both ways....as they both require different measures of skill and/or timing and/or endurance.

re: Controller or Pad?

I just think using a controller is kinda cheap. i mean it's so easy to get high scores. Don't blam me it's just everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

re: Controller or Pad?

Well when I first started I used the controller, but once I got the pad that was all I used. Sometimes, if I just want to listen to a certain song and not get up I might use the controller.

It's a good workout for the knuckles. Gets your reflexes honed up for Soul Calibur II...first-person shooters, etc.

re: Controller or Pad?

I play on the pads for DDRMAX and Konamix, and then I can play on the computer with an adapter I bought that plugs into the USB port.

re: Controller or Pad?

I like playing DDR on the controller when I'm not bothered to get the mat out or if the song is too hard ... like Max 300 I play on the mat to unlock songs, using the controller to unlock songs is just plain cheating.

The only song I cannot get an AA on the controller is MaxX Unlimited on the 7th Mix.

re: Controller or Pad?

I prefer using the pad.But since we have DWI we can always play on the keyboard. It's kind of hard but you will get use to it.

re: Controller or Pad?

Stepmania is sooo much better then DWI.

I only played on the controller when I couldn't make a lot of noise. eg. when everyone went to bed.

re: Controller or Pad?

better yet, play at the arcade.

and buy a cheap 3rd party pad.

it'll last you about 4 or so months. Less if you progress really fast.

then go to ddrfreak.com, and learn how to mod your pad.

re: Controller or Pad?

I really wanna get a metal pad, but the price is a bit high and since I don't really know how durable they really are, the price kinda puts me off (£120 in UK). I like the idea they don't slip ('cause they're heavy) but can they break easily?

re: Controller or Pad?

Aren't there some places that allow you to get the hyper-realistic metal pads for approx 300$? It's outrageous, but I believe they offer a lifetime warranty on the thing, too.

When I first started out I used the pads. I've never really used the controllers. The pads are just so much more fun. You actually get to dance.

re: Controller or Pad?

I mostly play on the arcade machine pads since there's a DDR Extreme machine ½ of a mile away from where I live.
