Double Pack Bug ****Spoilers****

I recently bought the double pack of this game, that's the origional and the add-on pack in a dvd case-sized cardboard box. Played through it, no problems. Escape from candle keep and start dodging Falming Fists around Baldur's Gate. It spawned so many fists outside their gaol that I could not get close, every time I escaped thatnks to that gnome there were so many fists that I was thrown right back in jail again.

It also spawned multiples of important characters. For example the hooker that approaches you and tells you about scar's death appeared three times at once on my game, had to go through the conversation three times.

Now that's bad enough, but when I entered the Ducal Palace, it played the movie from when you enter, then one second after it finished it played it again. It wouldn't even spawn Sarevok and the dukes. I managed to get past it by installing a patch, but then when I tried to load the game up after not having played it for a few days, it refused to load saying that the game would only run in america or canada, despite the fact that I downloaded the enghlish patch and had been playing the game (with that patch on) only days before. I decided to continue without the patch (if it worked) and made my way through the theive's maze, but it continually played the entering the lost city movie. I managed to sneak around to the building we have to enter (having already completed this game before, pre-TOSC I knew where to go) I entered there, only to find that movie looping as well making the final battle impossible to even start let alone win.

Does anyone know how I can get around this problem?

I managed to fix this, I returned to the Black Isle site and saw a note stating that the dirextX 8 patch was required in addition to the latest game patch.
