You kids don't get it |
|
Not talking to all of you.
I think some people don't enjoy OoT so much nowadays. For those of use who played it when it came out, it was breathtaking. We were younger back then, and our system was the N64. Kids that age today are looking for different things in games; Graphics have to be amazing, online play is crucial. If a younger person plays OoT today, he's holding it in comparison to other games that sport features OoT was never meant to emphasize. I can't put my finger on it, but it has something these games today aren't replicating... and that's hard to see from the perspective of a typical kid. -------------------

This game actually has charm unlike a lot of the bland games that are coming out in today's market. Development costs a lot nowadays putting developers under a lot of pressure to make them sell so they just can't be creative with their games anymore. Most kids today just go for the graphics and action (or if they're 'casual' a bunch of other crap)

Well that's why you'll almost never see me playing a game made after the year 2004.

Yeah it's pretty obvious, you get people who play it for the first time now who are like "bah I don't see what all the fuss was about", yet they missed out on the awesomeness of getting the game for christmas as a kid soon after it came out. Man I miss the times where online play wasn't even given a shit about.
But hey, even now this is one of very few games I can keep coming back to for another playthrough without getting bored. ------------------- ![]()

When I was a little kid, my brother always let me play it. It was always just so cool, and because of all the new stuff with it's great graphics and online play? it can't compare to the old-fashioned ones. Old-fashioned they may be, but that's before everyone whined that games were "too hard." I've never really cared about graphics. I'll tell some younger kids, "It's not the graphics that count, but the game," and they look at me like I'm a nutcase.

ITT a bunch of people bitch about kids liking better games.
Seriously, get over it, OoT hasn't aged that gracefully, it's an average game at best now, obviously kids aren't going to get it. ------------------- What is a drop of rain, compared to the storm? FFS, you're making me feel old Zisor.
Of course those newer to the gaming scene will compare OOT to the current crop. Likewise, those that joined during the PSX/N64 era won't have the same level of appreciation of the NES/SNES titles those older gamers will have since they're more focused on the 3D games. Legend of Zelda established the series on the NES, but damn go back to it now and it's full of flaws and shortcomings. It's called progression and it's typically a good thing. You assert that OOT has something the current gaming crop hasn't; that the current crowd are only interested in graphics and online and so the games are too focused on that. I must disagree with this assertion. OOT was good for its time but it has been surpassed, and by quite a few games. It's still an enjoyable experience even now but I won't pretend that it hasn't lost some of its magic since then. -------------------

A lot of people say OoT is a great game for its time. But I say (in a Kanye West sort of way) that it's the best game of all time.
"You kids don't get it", indeed. It's not just the nostalgia. Time holds no relevance to a masterpiece like this. But of course, only people like myself realize this. There is no such thing as a game better than OoT, as far as I'm concerned. So Strawberryclock couldn't possibly be any more wrong. -------------------

You best be trolling, man. OoT is, now a days, so okay it's average.
This is coming from the man without a single current gen console and a 9 year old PC. ------------------- What is a drop of rain, compared to the storm? What is a thought, compared to a mind? Our unity is full of wonder, which your tiny individualism... cannot even conceive

You seriously can't compare games made over 10 years ago to something made today. It's like comparing a NES side scroller to something for the 360. Well honestly, if a game is bad today it was a bad game back then as well lol
