Hi. Long-time lurker now posting.

I just started rewatching DBZ and got to thinking about interesting match-ups and while Gohan had a much higher PL than Goku even at the start of DBZ, he couldn't control it at all. So my question is...who do you believe would win?

First of all, it depends on what point in each of the sagas the characters are at, since both of them made great strides in becoming more powerful. I'm just going to go ahead and take Goku at his strongest in the saga since regardless, Gohan has a massive lead on him in terms of latent power.

Obviously, pre-Picollo training, Goku's going to nab the win, I think, since Gohan doesn't even know how to fight. Even if he did, it comes down to skill since Gohan still doesn't know how to control his power.

During Piccolo's training, it becomes more difficult, but I still think it comes down to whomever has the superior skill and that would be Goku.

Post-Picollo training...I think it sorta depends on Gohan's state of mind. Whether Goku's scaring the shit outta him or not.

So yes. Discuss.

Because this forum needs more pre-DBZ character fights tbh.

Gohan would beat the *bleep*ing shit out of Kakarot at that time. Even if we don't know Son Gohan's suppressed power, I would consider Gohan's power to be stronger than Kakarot in the King Piccolo Sub-Arc. Besides, for all we know, that could've been Gohan's suppressed power when Raditz read it, at first, and it could've still been rising.

If its Goku. Unless its Post Picollo Training Gohan who's willing to fight. Goku. Hands down.

That was just hidden potential.

Gohan wins if its the one that injured Raditz.

Goku would win, remember that Gohan in the Saiyan arc had no concept of ki control yet and could only tap into his hidden power through emotional rage like bursts. But if it's 1 on 1, there would be no emotional factor present that could trigger Gohan's hidden powers, so Goku would easily win this...
