Secret Classes and other special characters?

In my second or third time through Ogre Battle 64 I was able to attain a few other special characters then Death Knight has written in, one was a vampire who asked a series of questions and then joined. Another was a class (Dragon something) which recquired one to do a mini-quest. Was wondering if anyone knows for sure how I did either of these?

Thank you in advance,

re: Secret Classes and other special characters?

Well, Lestat the Undead asks you questions in Mylesia, and if you answer him correctly (based on the timing of day) he'll give you a Bloddy Emblem, which in conjunction with the Count's Garment and a low enough alignment allows one to change his/her character into a vampire. There are two Count's Garments available in the game (and thus 2 potential vampires).

And the quest you're referring to is the quest to get the Sword of Tiamat, Dragon Armor, and Dragon Helm in order to create a Dragoon. It is a special class in the sense that you can only get one of them per game.

The unique classes in the game are: Princess (female, only 1 per game); Dragoon (male, only 1 per game); Lich (female/male, 1-2 per game depending on path); Vampire (2 per game).

Vampires are pretty worthless though, unless used for a base defense unit. They immobilize units for 12 hours whenever used (because they go into their coffins during the day and cannot move). When they go into their coffins they have ridiculously high defense (thus making good base defense units). Otherwise they use a blood-sucking move that does moderate to low damage during the night, and also heals them.

Dragoons on the other hand are on par with several of the special characters such as Destin Faroda and Ankiseth Gallant. They use two-handed swords, and thus it is best to have your future dragoon go under the progression of Fencer -> Swordmaster -> Dragoon. Dragoon's have strength better than a Paladin, Dexterity approaching a Swordmaster, and the defense of a Paladin. They're truly an awesome class.

Princesses themselves suck (they do about the damage of a Sorceress) but their benefit is that every character in their unit gets one extra attack. So, if your Princess unit has 2 Paladins and a Black Knight in the front row, instead of getting 3 attacks and 2 attacks, respectively, the Paladins would each get 4 attacks in the front row, and the Black Knight would get 3 attacks. One can see that Princess units are thus truly awesome.

Liches are also incredibly good. They are a regular magician class in the sense that they cast spells like Arch Mages, but unlike Arch Mages or Sirens they get 3 attacks in the back row, have better magical offense and defense, and pretty high evasion. Their resistance to strike is still pathetic, but as long as there's another character in front of them they'll do fine.
