i used to love this game when i played PS1. but that game, i played it the other day, and the dam game is full of Glitches! it is not even funny! and i am starting to think that it is sort of a rip off of the GTA series.
even so. i played this game for ages.... multiplayers crapy. the story line could be inproved. and any one had the glitch with those draw bridges in Chicargo? despite its down falls. i think it is the 2nd best driving game on the PS1. after Gran turismo 2. | |

Yeah, this was my favorite game for a while. The bad graphics were the first thing I noticed about the game.
 Driver 2 is pretty similar to GTA, but remember GTA3 (the first 3D GTA) was released after Driver 2, so luckily it's not a ripoff... It would be cool to play this game again, but my PS2 broke and I don't own a PSX. | |

GTA3 was released significantly after Driver 2, so you really can't claim rip-off.
About the game: Yeah, I thought Driver 2 was pretty great when it came out but (as I've said in the other thread) it has not aged well at all. Not to mention that the game was rushed into release and thus had/has a ton of glitches in it.  Driver 2: An important game in the evolution of the "crime simulator" games but one that isn't fun to play (at least anymore). ------------------- This is your ass -> O This is your ass in jail -> O Any questions? | |

yeah. i guess all you have a point. it did come out Before GTA 3. hahha! that mission for Asuka in Stanton Island called 'Two Faced Tanner' that is where you kill tanner from Driver 2! ahaha. Asuka also quotes 'he is usless when he is out of his car'. which is true in driver 2. apart from Jacking other cars you cant do anything (apart from pressing various buttons thruout the game).

Driver 2 was good but i always thought driver 1 the first one was better because usually the first ones are better then the sequels well most of the time.

I remember Driver 2 really well. Every level was a challenge, but I kept at it and I can remember how happy I felt when I finally completed it.
My strategy for most of the levels was too push the opposing vehicle off the edge of the cliff/into the water/down a crater. I was so cheap. Finding all the cars and secrets was a blast too. Aaahh... | |

Driver 2 was an incredible game when it came out but as DrFred said it hasn't aged well, I find it hard to play it now with the choppy graphics and the stale gameplay.
Also GTA3 took a lot of ideas from Driver, like the view system (L2 to look left, R2 to look right and both to look behind), Driver was the first game to do that. Driver really was influential in evolving the crime genre into what it is today and I may be wrong here but wasn't Driver the first 3D driving game to mix criminal activities with driving? | |
