melee is more hectic and fast paced.
ssb is more skill based and less hectic to me, which is why me and my friends play it much more than melee.

All I can think of are the battle entries, where everyone enters the stage in their own fashion, unlike Melee's where it's all the same.
And most characters like Kirby and Yoshi were more powerful in this game...and most attacks have been horribly weakened in Melee. If I recall...the fire flower was able to pull off a possible 100 damage in SSB, now it can only deal around 15 if you're lucky enough to trap your enemy.
Plus, the sound effects were more intense and hostile in SSB64.

SSB is a classic game where u have to make perfect moves. Melee is jsut some sttupid game where all you is button mash when u get next to someone. They ruined the game play.
But on the plus side... they added a bunch of new stuff, which i like.

I like SSBM better because of the graphics, characters, and the other extra stuff you can get. It's fun to collect trophies, and the bonus things you can do are cool. The one with Giga Bowser was HARD. I love a challenge . I don't think the controls were any more difficult to master than SSB's

quote Claude Casshan
When I first got my hands on Melee, I was mortified. It felt like a spin-off rather then a sequel. The formula was different. Playing, I felt sluggish and not in control. My moves were slower, the controls felt uncomfortable, and I didn't feel my opponents presence as I moved too easily through him to land my attacks.
Melee waters down every opponents strength and that's one of the first things you notice. Samus's Charge Shot doesn't quite pack the same punch and when I perform my down+A with her midair, she takes a second to pull it off. Meanwhile, in SSB, she pulls it off instantaneously. I could no longer pull off those sweet two-step combos to send my opponent off the stage.
When jumping in the air in Melee, gravity barely comes into play. Every character floated as if he came down with a parachute and/or went up as if they had wings on their boots. Every time I leaped into the air, I felt like a giant hotair ballon with a target on me.
Sure, the graphics are phenomenal, the music is sharp, and you have various elements multiplayer you can throw in a match Melee. But the gameplay just isn't SOLID and the feel of the game is loose.
I am disregarding the single player challenges and the trophies for those are just novelties in Smash Bros because it's all about Multiplayer.
That is the reason I keep returning to this forum and playing the the original SSB with my friends. It's the same idea with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Goldeneye's setbacks are what make the game Goldeneye. The same applies to SSB. Not a wide variety of options or extra moves, but tight distinct combat.

All you did in that post is whine about how you suck in melee, take a second and actually PLAY melee, get to know the controls, you will find that a GC controller is comfy, while an N64 one is not. As with the mortified part, what you did was face a computer in a vs match and lose.

As with the mortified part, what you did was face a computer in a vs match and lose. Wait... Are you dissing the N64 controller???? The N64 controller was unique... If you actually maybe played with the N64 controller you will find that it works nicely. Now the Gamecube controller is like everything else... It still is comfortable, but just something else. All through that he never said anything that said he whined. He was merely expressing that SSB had it's classical way of doing things, with so few characters, each one had it's powers that made you want to use it. Now, why use Pikachu, when you can use Mewtwo??? Why use Yoshi, when it's tongue can avoided on these huge levels... Also, SSB is a classic. Truth is, nothing beats a classic.
