Most (if not, all) overseas countries don't pay for PPV's anyway so changing the name won't really affect overseas ratings as far as I know. I did always think the name was stupid though and they should have gone with something else to begin with.

I've only recently got back into Wrestling (started watching again at Backlash, loved the Hardy brother fight (is Matts arm actually kayfabe btw? I always assumed it was but I'm increasingly thinking its real :/)). Anyway, Judgement Day was a pretty good PPV overall. I think the best match was Rey V Y2J. The end of the fight was awesome with Jericho reversing the 619 into Wall of Jericho. Great stuff. Think the Edge fight came a close second. Rest of the fights were particularly meh. Although Miz's rant was epic and I will never understand how Morrisson can pull off that somersault so bloody cleanly?
Looking forward to Extreme Rules anyway. I think they have too many PPV's compared to what they used to, but it also keeps you hooked. I did find it quite boring that all of the fights at Judgement Day were just single matches? They did make up for it with the ends of the fights though. Also Bash<Great American Bash (even though that also sucks considerably) -------------------

The WWE are making a slow progression to the event becoming Bash at the Beach.

I remember getting mixed up the two events as a kid anyway. So they may as well just steal the name tbh.

Bash At The Beach always felt like WCW's ripoff of SummerSlam, so when it was announced they were bringing in a former WCW ppv for some of the early summer months, TGAB seemed a better choice to open up SummerSlam with. If WWE really are going to transition the name from TGAB to The Bash to finally Bash At The Beach, that will be stupid to have two summer themed PPVs.
What next, the return of Taboo Tuesday but yet keep Cyber Sunday around too? See what I mean. They own all the copyrights to WCW's flagships and theme names, why not bring back Halloween Havoc (always loved the arena designs), Fall Brawl or better yet since they freakin produced a DVD for it, bring back STARRCADE!!!

Taboo Tuesday failed dramatically.
I wouldn't mind replacing Cyber Sunday, the name itself just sounds so stupid. Starrcade was epic in every way. Do WWE have rights to that 3 stages of hell match, they were fun. -------------------

quote Johnny SasakiYeah, there was. Jericho vs. Batista was the main event with Stone Cold as referee. There was also interference by HBK and Orton (the two other choices for ref), and Batista won the belt, only to lose it back to Jericho on RAW the next night. quote The Living AngelusThey should bring back one or two of those 3 (Halloween Havoc and Starrcade), but cut some of the current PPVs. In fact, they should cut it in half, or at least take out 4 or 5. Too many PPVs and not enough time for feud development, tbh. ------------------- ![]()

quote Oogity_Boogity_BooYou mean the second Raw after. I'm sure we'd all remember if Batista's reign lasted a day, we'd call him the new Kane. I'd originally love Halloween Havoc to come back, but under today's PG environment in the WWE, that makes me second-guess it tbh. Fall Brawl would be sweet to replace Cyber Sunday, tbh. ------------------- ![]() personal thought of the day: life. is good. bob marley said it, and he's always god damn right about everything.

re: WWE PPV Thread 2009 (Pt. 5) [Night Of Champions: July 26, 2009] |
quote Oogity_Boogity_BooThis got me thinking. At this years Mania they gave 6 weesk in the run up and tbh most feuds gained good steam after 3 and then lost it almost completely by the 6th week. Partly the reason why WM25 was craptacular. Anyway, if they cut the number of PPVs that would mean most PPV matches get 6-8 weeks build up, which just wouldn't work. The reason for that is, generally speaking, nothing of substance ever happens on RAW or SD! anymore. So in the run up to Mania it was 6 weeks of stringing a feud along. No real developments were made for any feud, just filling the time up before the PPV. They need to start treating Raw as a legit show and not as a filler in between PPV's. Then maybe the ratings would go up, nowadays you can miss 2 or three episodes of Raw on the spin and not be out of the loop at all. -------------------
