re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

Well I mean like a Big Event. Bigger than the normal RoH shows. Not a PPV, I didn't know what to call them.

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

Okay, I'll go through their past events to see what shows all three are in and see whether it's a major show or not, and if I think you'll like it.

Death Before Dishonor III- Morristown, NJ 6/18/05 - Features Strong and Evans on the same tag team, and CM Punk against Austin Aries for the RoH World Title.

Damn, having trouble finding all three in the same event that is an event you'd consider as a PPV calibur event.

All Star Extravaganza II- Elizabeth, NJ 12/4/04 - Strong and Evans teamed in this one as well, and CM Punk and Samoa Joe had their last championship match in their series.

The Midnight Express Reunion- Philadelphia, PA 10/2/04 - Features a 4 vs. 4 elimination match which featured all 3 of the wrestlers you want, and included two other matches that were defined as classics, so may want to check it out sometime.

Survival of the Fittest- Philadelphia, PA 6/24/04 - Your three boys were on the undercard of a tournament-like event, but the main event rocked. By the way, the other event that month was the World Title Classic event that you didn't consider to be impotant enough to be a PPV

That's all of them. You may want to get Death Before Dishonor III for CM Punk

Thanks tons Total Nonstop Action! Any match with CM Punk is probably good! Only problem is when he will get in the WWE he wont be allowed to use the Pepsi Plunge...

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

Damn you Summoner, you keep beating me to everything! Anyways, here's what Joe had to say about this:

quote 411wrestling.com
As reported earlier, Samoa Joe has been pulled from the Ring of Honor show this weekend due to a staph infection under his arm. Joe released the following statement regarding that injury today.

"Just to let everyone know what is going on. After my last show in Detroit I noticed a small cut underneath my right arm right near the armpit. It was a little red and irritated so I cleaned it and paid it no mind. Over the next few days it had swollen (to about the size of a large marble) and I decided to head to the doctor right away.

As I suspected the doctor diagnosed it as a pretty severe Staph infection and I am now on antibiotics. Next week I will be looking into getting it drained. If anything my non-participation this weekend is not only for my safety but the safety of my co-workers in ROH. The last thing anyone needs is a epidemic and for something like this to spread.

A note to indy promoters out there.

WASH your CANVASES!!!

I am surprised I have actually gone this long unaffected. It takes nothing more than some diluted bleach and a handtowel wipe down to prevent this type of stuff from afflicting your wrestlers.

I apologize to the fans of the Midwest this weekend and I promise I will do my best to make it up to you all next time ROH swings through the midwest.

My special thanks to Gabe Sapolsky and the Ring of Honor office for being VERY understanding. Regardless Low Ki has been added to the shows so rest assured I should not be missed too much."

Credit: PWInsider.com
Hope Joe can deal with this and get back to the ring safely without things getting worse. Low Ki rocks, so good substitute

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

One also has to wonder if this means Joe could have to miss the next TNA Impact taping depending on how quickly it heals, but kudos to ROH and Joe for quickly and professionally handling this matter. Knowing the big man, he'll more than live up to his word.
1/27 Edit: More from the ROH Newswire going into the weekend:
The 3/11 event at CT Sports Center in Connecticut is now off because ROH lost use of the building. That event will now be at the old ECW Arena in Philadelphia at 4 PM, part of a doubleheader with CZW. Tickets for that show will be honored in Philly. ROH is working to find a new location in New England for shows.
The Samoa Joe-Christopher Daniels singles matches set for this weekend will now happen on the 3/30 Detroit & 4/1 Chicago shows. Daniels will now face Low Ki tonight.
ROH could make more major announcements before they head on the road tonight, so stay tuned.

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

Results from this weekend's ROH shows:
Friday (Dayton, OH):
quote
1. Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, & Jimmy Yang d. BJ Whitmer,
Jimmy Jacobs, & Adam Pearce w/Lacy to advance to the
finals of the Trios Tournament.

2. Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley, & Abyss w/Prince Nana &
Daizee Haze d. Tony Mamaluke, Sal Rinauro, & Jay Fury
to advance to the finals of the Trios Tournament. Fury
looked impressive.

3. Claudio Castagnoli d. Chad Collyer when Ace Steel
distracted Collyer. Chris Hero & Necro Butcher from
CZW showed up in the crowd waving their tickets (kind
of funny seeing them wave full tickets, when they rip
the tickets in half when you come through the door. A
few minutes into it, Butcher ripped his ticket in
half, then waved it again.)

4. Ace Steel & Sterling Keenan wrestled to a no
contest when Steel got on the mike and got into a
verbal confrontation with Hero & Butcher. There was a
pull apart and they were taken to the back. Jim
Cornette came out with a bloody mouth saying calling
CZW garbage wrestling.

5. Nigel McGuinness d. Delirious in a non-title match (Pure Title).

6. Low Ki d. Christopher Daniels w/Allison Danger.
Really good match. Daniels said he's grown up and
offered to shake Low Ki's hand. Low Ki said history
has a funny way of coming full circle and refused to
shake Daniel's hand.

7. Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley, & Abyss w/Prince Nana &
Daizee Haze d. Jack Evans, Jimmy Yang, & Matt Sydal to
win the 2006 Trios Tournament. Really strong match.
Abyss teased a chokeslam on Shelley at one point.

8. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong d. Bryan Danielson &
Jay Lethal to retain the ROH tag titles. Strong made Danielson tap. He challenged Danielson to a title shot. The
Emabassy came out and attacked Danielson and
Generation Next made the save. Strong said Danielson
really owes him a title shot now.
Saturday (Cleveland):
quote
Adam Pearce over Jay Fury in a "solid outing". Post-match, Necro Butcher showed up and brawled with Adam Pearce as the locker room emptied as Jim Cornette was talking. Necrobutcher took an ugly looking bump in the brawl..

Jimmy Yang over Jay Lethal (reported as a "great match").

Tony Mamaluke, Sal Rinauro and Delirious over the Embassy (Reported heat between Rave and Shelley).

Low Ki over Jack Evans. Sounds like Evans was used for Ki's personal punching bag. Evans got some offense, but he was Ki's punching (or kicking) bag for the whole night. And he took it well. Ki beat him bad, winning with the double stomp in the corner.

Claudio Castagnoli and Ace Steel over Nigel McGuinness and Chad Collyer

Gen Next over Lacey's Angels to retain the ROH Tag Team titles. Jacobs was preoccupied with Lacey the whole match, including being out of the corner when BJ was looking for a tag. Jacobs botched a spot where Whitmer had Aries, I believe, on his shoulders. Jacobs was to hurricanrana him, but missed it and sorta fell.

This sort of led to a quick finish...2 Strong backbreakers on Jimmy and a 450 by Aries for the win. I guess the missed spot could be "attributed" to Jacobs not being in the game tonight. After the match, he was talking to Lacey, not giving BJ the time of day, and BJ was mad. After a couple of attempts to get his attention, he hit JJ with the Exploder and left. Good match, and another team that's got problems.

Christopher Daniels over Matt Sydal. Sydal looked very good in this match, hitting the moonsault dive to the outside and a nice pumphandle driver sorta move. Daniels' right knee, I believe, was giving him troubles. At 1st I thought he was selling something, but I don't remember any moves on his leg. Sydal did a nice job of keeping Daniels from hitting his big moves, aka grabbing his leg to keep him from doing the BME, getting out of Angel's Wings, etc. Daniels wins with a choke submission, I believe, reversing a Sydal pin attempt.

Bryan Danielson over AJ Styles to retain the ROH World title, The beginning started off slow with a lot of techinical stuff, reversals, etc., and AJ kept up with everything. Then Dragon offers his hand and AJ spits in
it. Danielson then gets AJ in the corner, mounts him, and spits in his face!

AJ goes nuts and throws some real stiff looking kicks and punches. Match goes back and forth with AJ hitting the Pele kick, the diving forearm from the guardrail, and a nice twisting flip from the top rope. Danielson gets Cattle Mutilation on, but AJ gets to the ropes. Lots of near falls, AJ can't hit the Clash. Late in the match, Dragon gets CM locked in again, only to have AJ flip over into a pinning combination. After Dragon kicks out, he attempts the Chickenwing...initially AJ blocks it, but he finally gets caught and grapevined on the ground. He taps, and Dragon is still the Champ.
Some announcements coming out of the weekend from the Newswire today:
Alex Shelley & Jimmy Rave have chosen their matches they want to be in, their reward for winning the Trios tournament (any match of their choice). Rave chose first and bumped Shelley from his ROH Title match against Bryan Danielson on 2/25's 4th Anniversary Show in Edison, NJ. Shelley will now work a Zero-One Max (Japan) show that night. Shelley chose his match as well-Danielson on 2/11 in Long Island. This could very well foil Rave's match!
The Main Event for the ECW Arena debut on 3/11 has been announced: Danielson and Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki & Christopher Daniels. This one should be a barn-burner.
Roderick Strong should get a ROH Title Shot in March or April.
ROH could make as many as 3 more major announcements sometime this week as various negotiations continue.

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

I believe I heard that Danielson may not be the champion once he faces Lance Storm in a couple months, so Shelley or Rave may be the ones to beat him, or possibly Roderick Strong if he gets the title shot before Storm faces Danielson.

I hope that it's either Shelly or Strong that wins it then Strong can be a double champ and I've been a fan of Shelly's for a while. I haven't seen much of Rave so I don't really know

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

What would be interesting with Rave or Shelley winning it is this: They both are part of The Embassy, Prince Nana's heel faction in ROH. So while Nana wouldn't mind either way because then his group will control the ROH Title, it might not sit well with Rave & Shelley. (Rave, by the way, had a brief jobber/midcard run in WCW and it's one-time developmental territory, NWA Wildside. He also does some work for TNA)
Edit: Today's Newswire Update...
Nothing new with regards to the 3 "major negotiations" except a 4th such negotiation has started.
Jim Cornette had a tooth knocked out during a fight at Friday's Dayton show. Investigation as to the guilty party is ongoing.
Jimmy Yang vs. Jerrelle Clark has been added to the 2/11 Long Island event. It's a must-win for Clark if he wants future matches. Another "huge match" will be announced tomorrow.
Added to the 4th Anniversary Show on 2/25 is Austin Aries & Roderick Strong defending the ROH Tag Team Titles against AJ Styles & Matt Sydal.

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

I watched Paul London vs AJ Styles a few days ago. I believe it was at Death Before Dishonor, probably in 2003. Styles was TNA Champ and ROH tag team champ. I don't think that London had a title at the time.

Anyways, the match was pretty good although I expected a bit more. It ended in a draw after about 25 minutes. Styles went for a German Suplex pin, but London was still on top of his shoulders so both guys shoulders were on the mat. Styles couldn't get his shoulders up because he 'injured' his knee earlier in the match in a spot with the ring barricade.

re: Ring of Honor Wrestling

Huge breaking news from the Newswire today: Gabe Sapolsky has announced that Low Ki is finished with ROH. Apparently it's due to disagreements in business-related matters and thus Low Ki has cancelled all bookings with ROH. This makes 2 big names gone between this and Abyss working solely with TNA now, but in the case of the latter it was more mutual so the door remains open to future bookings. Ki's departure will force either a change to or cancellation of his scheduled match against Roderick Strong at the 2/11 show. Although it's been a bad week for ROH, there is a little bit of good news: Samoa Joe has healed from his staph infection and should be able to return at the 2/25 4th Anniversary show to face Jay Lethal.
The 3/25 Manhattan Main Event should be announced sometime tomorrow. All they are saying is it will be a Tag Team match.
Matt Sydal has earned a fulltime roster spot and will be on every show starting with the 2/25 card-he'll team with AJ Styles to face Tag Team Champions Austin Aries & Strong.
The Tag Team Scramble will be back soon.
The below item is a direct message from ROH to Chris Hero:
quote ROHwrestling.com
This one goes out to Chris Hero. You want to keep writing in your live journal, well Jim Cornette has a message for you at ROHvideos.com. Not only that, but ROH management is going to have a message for you next week right here in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire. Consider yourself an endangered species.
Ooooooh...This one I can't wait for!

Yeah, Danielson and Hero were supposed to have an interpromotional program last I knew, and not sure if I remembered to post about that or not. Low Ki was fun to watch in the ring, but with his backstage attitude in TNA and RoH, we'll probably never hear from him again other than rare notes from maybe Japanese federations.

Yeah, unless he suddenly shows up in TNA again...might happen (there's talk about him being brought back to X Division).
Weekend ROH News:
The big 3/25 Main Event has been announced: KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji will return to ROH for a Tag Team match against Samoa Joe & Bryan "American Dragon" Danielson.
At least 2 more big announcements planned this week-one, which was leaked by a news site, involves more Japan talent coming in. Who and when will be revealed tomorrow.
Jimmy Yang will be on all shows for at least the next 3 months.
ROH's website has a huge merchandise sale-EVERYTHING is 15-20% off until 10 PM tomorrow night (2/7).
Lance Storm has put up a commentary about his upcoming match against Danielson on his website, stormwrestling.com.
2/7 update: The Japan-related announcement has been made-6 stars of Japan's Dragon Gate promotion will be coming to ROH for the 3/30, 3/31, and 4/1 shows. One group is the Blood Generation faction, made up of CIMA, Naruki Doi, and Masato Yoshino. The rest are from Dragon Gate's other top faction, Do Fixer (can't help but laugh a little at that), made up of Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi, and Ryo Saito. CIMA has appeared in ROH before, facing AJ Styles last August. Also appearing then was Shingo Takagi, who faced Curry Man (Christopher Daniels).
ROH will announce the matches featuring these stars sometime next week.
