re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

Name: Chris Candido
Age: 33
Date of Death: April 28, 2005
Cause: Infection/Blot Clot

I'm not sure if we're allowed to comment on these people or just add the wrestlers we want to add, but I would like to say a few things on a few certain people. Firstly, Candido. I didn't realise he was so young, I watched him frequently on TNA and although I wasn't a huge fan, I found him quite entertaining. It was sad to see him go this year.

Name: Big Bossman
Age: 42
Date of Death: September 22, 2004
Cause: Heart Attack

Big Bossman did have quite a big push in the '90s. Again, I never liked him much. It's still sad to see a wrestler pass away though. He probably put on the most unmemorable Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker.

Name: Elizabeth
Age: 42
Date of Death: May 1, 2003
Cause: Overdose

The greatest female manager ever, and definetely up there as one of the best managers of all time. She was by the side of Randy Savage for a while, then I remember her aligned with Lex Luger. It was so unfortunate to see her pass away, I liked her.

Name: Davey Boy Smith (British Bulldog)
Age: 39
Date of Death: May 18, 2002
Cause: Heart Attack

Superb wrestler. I really liked this guy and was heart-broken when I found out he died. Someone I really admired in the ring, and also a member of one of the greatest ever tag teams. I miss seeing the British Bulldog wrestle actually, this tragedy probably hit me the hardest out of every other wrestling death, excluding Owen Hart.

Name: Lou Thesz
Age: 86
Date of Death: April 28, 2002
Cause: Natural

Sadly, I've never seen a match of his. But many consider him to be the best wrestler ever, and so he deserves to be remembered here. It's great to see that he lived for so long, and had a great career. From what I've heard, he truly is a legend.

Name: Yokozuna
Age: 38
Date of Death: October 23, 2000
Cause: Heart Attack

Again, I'm not a huge fan of Yokozuna. But he had a great manager, and a few good matches. My best memory of him was when he beat Bret Hart for the title, then lost it to Hulk Hogan on the same night. He weighed a lot when he died, it's unfortunate.

Name: Rick Rude
Age: 41
Date of Death: April 20, 1999
Cause: Heart Attack

Another heart attack victim, this time it was Rick Rude. I've seen some of his matches and must admit I liked him. Good wrestler, and was also in D-X. And I heard he was coming back to the WWF. Unfortunately though, he suffered a heart attack. He's the first person ever to appear on RAW and Nitro on the same night.

Name: Andre The Giant
Age: 46
Date of Death: January 27, 1993
Cause: Giants Disease

He put on a huge match against Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 3. I saw a documentary on him, and it was an amazing story. Apparantely he could drink gallons and gallons of alcohol a day. Another legend, and a huge wrestler. Did a lot for the company, attracting fans just to see him wrestle.

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

Crash Holly will be missed by me alot. He was my favorite wrestler when I was growing up. JR and king used to call him Elroy from the Jetsons I believe. He was funny and entertaining. Crash used to hold the record for most Hardcore title wins but Raven defeated him I believe. Crash also won the European, Light Heavyweight and Tag Team Titles. I think the WWF regarded him as too small a wrestler to push to the top cause he had the tools to get there.

Yeah I am going to miss Crash Holly a lot also, I still remember when he would carry those weighing scales down to the ring. Was he actually related to Hardcore Holly and Molly holly or was that just an angle?

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

I really miss Freddy Blassy. I remember his performance one RAW during InVasion when he came up from his wheelchair to deliver a speech, and it was very powerful and emotional, even if it was fixed. Undertaker was damn near crying.

Crash Holly too was an amazing talent. They pushed him too much as a comedic act though, which is unfortunate, as he did have the skills to be a good mid-carder or upper-midcarder.

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

Do you think there might be a link between being a professional wrestler and dying young? A lot of them seem to.
