re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

Another former wrestler has passed away, some of you who were longtime WCW fans might recognize this name:
quote Wrestling Observer
Emory Hale, who did some wrestling for WCW and was being groomed to be a top heel in the shortlived XWF, passed away earlier today.

Hale, who was about 6-6 and 300 pounds, suffered kidney failure three years ago and underwent transplant surgery. In 2002, Hulk Hogan kept him on a retainer as a prospective opponent if he would get involved in a new promotion after WCW folded.
I don't remember him from WCW too well, maybe because I was much younger back then.
Also want to send get well wishes to former WCW personality Mark Madden, who suffered a heart attack over the weekend. All I know is he's hospitalized in stable condition. Madden is 45.

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

It was mentioned somewhere else, but I'll briefly re-tell the deal as much as I hate to...be warned, it's rather disturbing...

What many didn't know was what Crash was quite a party guy outside of the ring and sometimes drank a lot. The night he died he was staying at Steven Richards' house and drank quite a lot. So much he got really sick and vomited while he was asleep, to the point he ultimately choked on it and died. Even though it happened at his house, Richards was never considered a suspect in Crash's death (no foul play or anything like that).

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

damn what a way to go...Crash was a 21-time Hardcore champ...made me interested in that title, and one of the policies used to be a match in the Smackdown! games (time-limit Hardcore). RIP

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

Another one I just read about-even though he's still alive, former 80s star Ricky Morton has really fallen on hard times. He's now in jail for failing to pay child support, and a Tennessee indy is holding a special card tonight to help Morton pay his debts & legal fees. Hopefully there'll be a good turnout and they'll be able to help Morton get back on track. (AJ Styles is scheduled to be on the card)

One new name to add to the list, some of you older UK fans might recognize this name: Jackie "Mr. TV" Pallo, a household name in British culture as one of the first wrestling stars to hit it big on TV. He has died at 80, no further details available.

quote 411wrestling.com
IWA Puerto Rico Owner and Promoter Victor Quiñones was found dead this morning at the age of 46. He was at the IWA show last evening, and appeared to be fine. The death appears to have been natural causes and it is believed that Quiñones passed away in his sleep.

That's such a shame, especially to someone so young. I actually watched the IWA since it used to air on Sun Sports between TNA Xplosion and Major League Wrestling (now defunct). I remember watching Savio Vega in it, and I saw an Abyss match on those IWA programs as well, and I think I remember seeing Vampiro on those IWA programs, though it's been a couple years now. IWA is a nice little fun promotion in Puerto Rico and it's sad to see its owner and promoter pass away.

re: Wrestling Memorial Thread

I remember the name rather vaguely from when PWI runs brief news items from PR, I wanted to say that more recently he was one of the big guys in one fed's feud with Carlos Colon's PR-based promotion, including a few matches where Carlito and his brother Eddie were involved. PR's quite a hotbed itself for wrestling and this is a rather big loss to them.
