Wear a cup and the headgear lol. (Unless of corse you want the cauiflower ears.)

I thought of doing wrestling, but decided not when I thought how ridiculous I'd look in the uniforms.

Yes, three actually. Wear your uniform with pride. Wear everything you are told too. And listen to your Coach you might learn something important otherwise be aggressive.

Unless this is how you were taught, don't throw any muscle, stick to technical wrestling. And if you do have to throw muscle, throw it only during 3rd period, and only as desperation. And as with what Preddy said, stay aggressive.

re: Wrestling at school

Stay aggressive, stay at the right weight class for you, weight lifting is good but get a proffessional to show you the right way to do it.

Don't stand straight up up, learn to shoot very fast.

You have heard tips from a proud state wrestler of GA.

re: Wrestling at school

I don't wrestle but I know this much (I can't say everything will work for you but it's just a general help to you):

-You don't want too much muscle to slow you down so I would lift lower weight (still challenging) with lots of reps. The amount of reps you do is everything cause it'll build up power which is combination of strength and speed; therefore, with good power, it will make it easier to make a quick counter on your opponent or take him down to the mat faster for the pin. (get a professional to show you the ropes, hopefully your coach lifts)OH, and this is the most important part of weight lifting: the music. Make sure you have a good dose of your favorite upbeat music that'll get your blood flowing...I prefer loud rock...like Edge's themesong for example.

-Eat right, no crap like chips because junk food (despite the high amount of calories) will not give you as much energy, it'll actually slow you down because it really does clog your arteries and slow down your bloodflow (makes you tired). I suggest a good meal of pasta before your match.

-Cardiovascular workouts every night, no rest day.

-Good two-nights of sleep before your match.

-If you have phys ed. or gym class, try to save energy by opting to play lesser physical sports or activities (don't play football or basketball the day of a match).

-Talk to your teammates, mostly the veterans, they'll know what they're talking about.

-Study the pros like Angle and Benjamin, some of their moves are legal in Am-wrestling and you could pick up some ideas from them.

-Have fun...and wear your gear like everyone else has been saying.

Yeah, the important thing is not to waste all of your energy at the beginning. There is a chance that it will work, and you will beat them right away, but if you can't then you have no chance.

It worked for me once, and I could tell just by looking at the kid that I could smoke him! Beat him in 16 seconds!

It also helps that if you learn a move you like, repeat it until you master it, like the cradle or single leg.And to bardock, I saw a match were the kid shoot on another kid, and fell straight into the pancake, with was an instant pin, so it was over in about 10 seconds.

re: Wrestling at school

ImNext4Goldberg made some good points, I'd recommend following them. My main tip is to first master your takedowns, work on the speed aspect and the power aspect of them, so you can quickly get your opponent on the mat, as well as using the power aspect to floor larger opponents. Then work from there and learn some more moves after you have mastered that, which I would consider as the basics. I'm knowledgeable in martial arts and boxing, but not so much in wrestling, are submissions used too? If they are work on them as a focal point, because if you know some good submission moves, as well as how to quickly lock them in and gain the element of suprise, you'll have a huge advantage and definately make your opponents submit if you work on it. If it's a strictly pinning thing, ignore my last tip.

Submission moves should be a little harder than most moves but when wrestling try to lock in some headlocks and a Camel Clutch(Doubt its legal though )

re: Wrestling at school

only certain submission moves are legal, and even then your opponent in not allowed to submit, but they are the bearhug, the blade(frontface lock), crossface(not actual crossface, just one arm)and that's about it.

re: Wrestling at school

Our school doesn't do wrestling, after all this is Britain .
Even if we did I'd get pwned, I'm quite skinny with low muscle and can't lift much.

i echo that sentiment. if we had wrestling over here, i might not have totally ignored p.e. at school, and i might be reasonably fit enough to do pro wrestling today, instead of just knowing lots about it, which kinda sucks in lots of ways. probably once i've got a steady job i'll start getting fit and maybe go to a wrestling school or something, anyway. but it'll be years later than it would've been if i'd done it at school. school sucked.
