Am I the only that noticed the "feud with John Cena in 2008" part? Does that really mean he's going to continue to hold the belt for another six months plus?
People who don't have belts do have feuds you know, it could be a part of a "road back to the title" type of stort line.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

Cena is being booked as Hogan with a few more losses here and there. He's going to hold the world title for the majority of the time, so if he loses it before 2008 he'll pick it back up soon enough because they want Cena to be the face of their fed. Not as bad as HHH though, I hate when people in power book themselves or influence others to book them to be at the top for so long.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

Why would Viscera change brands if he wasn't going to contend for a title, though?

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

ECW is a developmental brand which means he's in the same boat as Snitsky. When he's ready, he'll be back to Raw and fed to John Cena.

BTW, I was never a big fan of Viscera but his Love Machine gimmick was crap. Hopefully this one turns out to be decent.

Well just ask yourself this, Sub: Did you enjoy Snitsky?

You probably won't enjoy the new Viscera if you said no.

WWE doesn't need any more monsters. They don't need anyone coming on ECW and destroying Tommy Dreamer, only to go to RAW a few months later then get destroyed by John "Hero Without a Cape" Cena.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

Good point AI but Viscera is slightly more talented than Snitsky IMO (and no, I'm not saying that only because he can do a spinning heel kick).

But when it comes down to it, they truly don't need more monsters but I guess whatever it takes to get over Cena. God they're beginning to make me sick.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

The most ridiculous part is that WWE doesn't get it that people are sick of seeing John Cena be David vs. Goliaths on a regular basis. He needs to feud with someone his own size, and who is actually a good wrestler, not like Khali or Snitsky. The Cena/HBK feud was good for a while, then it got old, but the Khali feud was gay from the beginning.

You know what I actually wouldn't mind seeing? A Cena/Mysterio feud. Has that ever happened before? I had been out of wrestling for a while.

Rey and cena had a few matches on SD, cena went with his badass gimmick and played the 'rey is small' card which i found highly unamusing.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

I think this is an OK thing since Viscera will be getting a push but I like his "Love Machine" gimmick but I guess a One Man Gang type of thing would work too so good for Viscera.

I think it's good seeing as Viscera seems like a good wrestler and is someone that doesn't cause any problems backstage. He deserves it.

damn Glen Jacobs is too nice of a guy!

some one needs to slap his head and say

"people would rather see Kane as world champ than Cena, Lashley and Batista, you balding hippy!"

idealy, i'd have Kane as WHC and Matthew Hardy as WWE Champ.

I hate rumors, but I'm glad Viscera is getting a new gimmick. I thought he had a lot of potential back in the day. I'm glad it will be more like One Man Gang and less like Snitsky.

re: Viscera Gimmick Change

quote Roohypnol
damn Glen Jacobs is too nice of a guy!
My roommate from my first year in college can attest to that as well. Before he became the wrestler that we know as Kane, Glen Jacobs was a teacher, and was a teacher for that particular roommate. Now that roommate wants to become a pro wrestler. There's a fun fact for you to digest!
Kane should be a main event guy because due to the recent draft, there are only a handfull of guys who have main-event experience on the SMACKDOWN roser. While this causes guys to step up, it would get a little boring if Edge and Batista kept going at it for the World Heavyweight Championship.
So that's where the "someone else" factor comes into play. With The Undertaker out with an injury and Rey Mysterio set to return in July the earliest, that leaves only four Superstars on the active roster that I think could potentially carry the brand: Finlay, Matt Hardy, Kane, and Ric Flair. Finlay's been around a long time, and I think is capable of just about anything in this business, and Kane would make one dangerous champion either as a face or a heel--he's already proven that time and time again over the years but has only gotten one World Title reign, a reign that lasted only 24 hours. Bottom line is that he deserves to be champion.
Matt Hardy is where things get interesting. I remember his Love Triangle storyline from 2005 that involved Edge and Lita (and Kane as well, but that was also the start of the events that led to Matt Hardy's return) on RAW before Matt was sent packing for SMACKDOWN, and the events of that rivalry proved that both Edge and Matt Hardy are world champion material. Edge is proving it now, but what I would like to see is for Matt to get that shot at Edge AND to win the World Heavyweight Championship. It would be tough to top their rivalry from 2005, but it would be amazing if they were able to, especially if the match was a TLC Match.
But I would be remiss if I didn't mention "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. The 16-time World Champion still has it, even into his late 50's, and can still put on some incredible matches. I remember when he had that TLC Match for the WWE Championship against Edge on RAW and he did a good job not getting killed in that match. He almost won that match too. Plus Flair is somewhat of a sentimental favorite because wherever he has gone, he always comes out to a chorus of "WOOOOOO!" that can also be heard at just about every WWE Event (even had some "WOO's!" go through the crowd while we were waiting to get into the SMACKDOWN/ECW Tapings that were in Boston back in December).
But the question remains: Does Ric Flair have one more World Title reign in him? Absolutely.

I like the idea of a Viscera gimmick change because the current gimmick just didn't work for me. What impresses me about Big Vis is that despite weighing as much as he does, he's pretty agile-you have to be to nail someone with a Spinning Heel Kick, a move that is typically used by smaller wrestlers such as Edge and RVD-and he's quite the athlete. I would actually like to see this worked over so he gets to the Main Event, but if Viscera is getting this treatment after being a mid-card guy for so long, then why aren't other veterans like Regal and Val Venis getting their due?
(BTW, that remark would have involved Scotty2Hotty, but he no longer wrestles for WWE, which is a damn shame).
And why isn't Chavo Guerrero getting pushed to the main event level like his uncle Eddie was back in 2004?

Even so, it should be interesting to see where this goes with Viscera. Could it lead to a World Title shot? It's too early to say, but you can't say never in this business.
I doubt this will ever happen for one reason or another (speaking of the "never say never" philosiphy of pro wrestling), but if Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Viscera, Umaga, Kane, and Abyss were all involved in the same match, it would-for all practical reasons-be a Monster's Ball match because all six of them are monster-sized wrestlers. I wouldn't want to be the referee in that mess!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Regal get a push now he's on RAW, as he is friends with both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon behind the scenes.

Val Venis has got talent but doesn't have the "it" factor to be a huge star, though I would like to see him as IC Champion again.

The reason Chavo hasn't reached the same heights as Eddie is because he sucks. Credit where it's due, he's better than average in the ring but the guy is dull. He has no star power, no marketing potential, and no real fanbase; he gets "Eddie" chants for christ's sake, his fanbase is almost entirely made up of Eddie Guerrero fans. He should be kept in the Cruiserweight Division until he retires, to be honest. Also wasn't Eddie his uncle, not his cousin?
