Question About Ball Pythons |
|
My boyfriend and I are taking in 3 Ball Pythons that were pretty much abandoned after one of my friend's roommates moved out.
I have a few questions. The first one. How tame are they generally? Do they tend to like human contact? Also, there's three of them. So when feeding them, what's the best method to make sure they all get some? Thanks. -------------------

Okay, here's the info you need:
1 - Ball pythons are extremely gentle and affectionate. They take well to being handled and are generally docile. Like any snake, however, they are a wild animal and they must be treated with the respect due them as such. Never reach for a python's head. At best it will retreat and be traumatized. At worst it will bite, and a ball python's bite hurts! 2 - When feeding, separate them. It is unlikely that they will fight over a mouse; however, accidents happen that can lead to tragic results, especially for the snakes. If both snakes strike at the same time, one may kill the other during the constriction process. Also, if they should happen to start eating from opposite ends of the same prey animal (rare, but does happen), they will not stop when meeting in the middle. The larger snake will just continue eating until it has engulfed the smaller. You would do well to ensure that you don't have two males and one female. Any other gender combination is fine, but two males may fight over a single female during breeding season. If you have any other questions, just ask. If I can't get you an answer, I'll try to get you a link to a good herpetology site. ------------------- ![]() | |
