Erik Satie - Nocturne number 2 I've been busting out a classical guitar arrangement for this tune (as well as the third nocturne), and I'm just now trying to get a handle on everything. So far I can play somewhat-reliably through the first minute shown in this video. This is certainly a great interpretation though, so very rubato in the way that Satie's gnossiennes were. ------------------- B-E-A-D-G NeoIRC | Musician's Corner | Last.fm

Day of the Baphomets by The Mars Volta.
Specifically the opening solo. I think this one's gonna have to be a long term sorta thing cause it's kicking my ass. ------------------- ![]()

Oh man, I took a look at a tablature of that solo and I shit myself. Good luck man, you definitely need to put it up if you get it down.

Haha well it's having it's way with me atm. I got the first 10 seconds down pat and then it starts the 32nd note runs and then I start going to shit. I've gotten the first one a couple of times so I know it's within the realm of reason to learn. It's just gonna take a LOT of practice. Wish me luck.

Back when I really cared about The Mars Volta I wanted to learn that song so bad, but never quite stuck with it.
Just experimented with grooving along to some Mastodon on my upright this morning, arco style of course. Much of the stuff off the Leviathan album has a decidedly Sea-shanty feel to it when played with a bow. @_@ ------------------- B-E-A-D-G NeoIRC | Musician's Corner | Last.fm

Oh man, Baphomets solo is clinically insane. I can play it up until he goes Millennium Falcon on that poor bass guitar.

Oh jeez, there has never been a guitarist who made me want to play shred until I listened to Mr. Govan.

Just about the hardest thing I've ever tried to learn...This is my second attempt on it...I'm doing a lot better than last time at least...But the solo's still taking some work to get every time... ------------------- ![]() ...2010 : Year Of The Black Rainbow...

The intro riff to Johnny B. Goode - one of those random things I decide to learn. Got the first bit of it down, now just got to work on these bends.
