I just started playing again and I'm really struggling with dragons and liches, has anyone got any tips for fighting them? I always end up with a party of dead characters, very useful (not). If anyone knows what sort of level chars I should have that would be handy too. Thanks.

For the Lich just have a thief who can set snares and special snares. Lay down 8-10 right where the Lich materializes and it's dead! Although be ready with some fireballs or heavy weapons in the event that they don't kill it.

The easiest way to kill a dragon is to have 7-10 cloudkill spells or wands. Stand outside of the dragon's view so they don't engage you and then broadcast the cloudkill in the general direction of the dragon, it just sits there getting poisoned to death. Just make sure you have Zone of sweet air to cast afterward so you don't have to wait for the cloudkill to dissipate.

one thing I found helped with liches was turning yourself into a slime if you have a character who can. they are immune to a lot of the nastier spells so you just sit back and whack each other

make sure the rest of your team is not anywhere nearby or theyre toast

Technically, the easiest way to beat a dragon is for charname to be a fifteenth level monk. Quivering blow, attack the dragon. It probably won't work the first time, so reload and prepare the cheese! Good morning Carsomyr.

Well TBH the D'Arnese keep is one of the first quest's I do because the loot and exp is pretty good. Before I attempt it though, I recruit my party consisting of Jan, Aerie, Keldorn, Minsc and Anomen. I aim for 3 utility chars, and 3 melee chars. The black dragon I take on straight away, the red one however I would leave till you have done alot of the other quests. You will find +res/dam dragon equipment through quests and in the Firagg dungeon there are items in the well to help you.

Just make sure you lower magic resist a few times and pelt it with magic missile. Use potions and activate all the beserker stuff etc. You might loose one member but just resurect him and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the tips so far help but anyone know a good rough character level for fighting them? I really want the holy avenger, and a dragon happens to standing in the way.

The major thing is magic resistance. The easiest way to beat a dragon is buff yourself to the max. Summon some pets to help distract the dragon. Have the spell lower magic resistance and then have your mages pelt the dragon with magic missiles. Because the missiles are entirely magical they cannot be resisted. Use all the ability's you have such as berserk etc... Haste is quite important too. The main damage dealers will be your mages though so keep them safe. Kit yourself up to resist the elements and dont be afraid to use lots of potions.

i havent played in sooo long but i do remember something of fighting the big boys like Liches and Dragons. the trick comes down to magic from memory. just make sure you have enchanted weapons with +5 etc and spells that deal lots and lots of damage. also dispel works good as they tend to buff themselves up alot. so make sure you can dispel their buff enchantments.
