After reading the papers and the diary and everything, I could really see this maybe not coming entirely from someone's imagination. It would be cool to read up on any event or events this may have been inspired by.

I made up my own story about the Ocean House Hotel because of my certain experince I had. I was really freaked out and that bl_ _ _y yellow bin kept following me on the ground floor. It was so scary I practitly jumped everytime a light blew out or when I saw part of the murderous ghost man.
But after I played the same thing a billion times I knew that I could just run through and not get killed (mostly) or I had anything to be afraid of.
I felt so sorry for that ghost woman who kept pointing the way and I went all shivery when she thanked me for taking the locket away.

The Shining was clearly one inspiration with the hotel and the father chasing the wife around with an axe.
