Out of the the first for four chapters leading up to the main one, each spotlighting a different set of characters, which is your favorite?

My favorite was chapter 3, the one with Torneko. I really liked the way that you had to not only fight a bunch of monsters and go through dungeons, but had to manage your funds appropriately. Buying items in one town to mark them up in another? Hiring mercenaries? Arming a king's army? All cool stuff.

I agree that chapter 3 was my favorite, unlike any other RPGs ive played, this chapter had stuff that you don't usually see in a rpg but they should put it in more, i wonder if they will have a chapter 3 sorta experience in the new dragon quest IX

Back on the NES, the third chapter was my favorite. However, in this new version, much of the tension has been eased off, and somehow, earning the money goes from being a fun adventure to being annoying and tedious.

The first chapter seems to have suffered the least from this drop in difficulty (since it wasn't that bad to begin with), and it's both fairly straightforward and fun. It was disappointing when Healie called out to me in the well cave (in the original, either you found him or you didn't, but had the opportunity to find out about him again when you met the soldier in the tower). They've just dumbed down the gameplay.

yeh i like chapter 3 too because of its uniqueness. where else in an rpg u started out working in a weapon shop trying to make money so u can have ur own shop. then as u go through the chapter u get a chance to buy a shop for urself then work with ur wife, lol it was fun. its really diff from the other chapter. the other chapter is just normal exploring.
