You likely won't read this, but in the hopes that I can help others...
You seem to have the same issue as I do. Every time I log into the network, the screen freezes when I try to join the first game (strangely, though, the background music continues to play).
Really, all you have to do is wait about 2-3 minutes, and you should then join the game (if there's room). After that, there should be no freezing if you want to join other games.

when i go to pick a match to play in, i press x, when it says on bottom of screen 'join game', and when i do press x, it freezes. does anyone know how to prevent this? i really want to play online with this game, i heard it's great!
when it freezes, do i wait for it or...what?
