5th time today, just can't seem to kill him. Has anyone succeeded and what was the tactic you used?

damn i guess i got lucky (or unlucky) dont know wich one yet as i beat hells gate at br 31 but i'm stuck at jager now

one of the easiest ways to do this is comlete all the quest you can first lol, it helps, but as for a stratagie
make 4 groups 2 mele (4 units in each, all tanks and attack, use the vangaurd formation) one magic(4 units, have som good attacks, number 5s help. 1 group of fast people, and you use them for healing, us the line formation, it increasse mobility.
make sure each union can revive.
then when you start bring out cyclops and kill the hypnos, then have cyclops engae hellsgate and keep him busy with your 2 tank groups, have your healers standby unless they have long range attackes, and hit them with you best mystics with the mystic group, you can get a round od deadly hits in, then pull them out to heal, repeat untill process is complete.
hells gate has about....100k in health(thats where i added my figth around, my tanks dealt aroun 10-15k here and there, but theres a good chance he has 200k health, not sure)

I'm BR 26 and I almost killed, but got unlocky with it's granade attack which deals 3k+ dmg. How can I leave this boss and go buy that ressurection herb, I think it will be too hard to beat it without it.

I got wiped out on my first two tries at BR 42 then I went and leveled up my party to BR 44 and changed my tactics a bit and it worked out fine, although it took me quite a while to finish him off. I think it might've been doable at BR 40 or lower if I had known what to do.

Seriously, I thought he was a walkover, I dont even know why people make such a fuss over him i beat him in turn 4. Davids union died and got enthralled but i just did " heal them even if it kills them." I was battle rank 71 Haven't been grinding as such, just going through all the sidequests and not missing an enemy. I had 4 unions, 3 of 4 and Rushs union of 3. Rush, Baulson and some random yama, dave and 3 soldiers, Torgal,Caedmon, and two soldiers, They were my TANK unit. Did near on 20000 a turn. four winds IV destroys all. I think i got lucky at the beggining as all the hypnos unions attacked rush. but he dodged/1 hit countered everything. He was equipped with the defender sword. Cyclops was Hells gates punching bag, while torgal dished out the pain along with rush. david healing and emmy doing a bit of both.

ok first of all...HOW CAN YOU LOSE TO THIS BOSS AT BR73?!?!?!? srsly...I got his Hp to what I believe is half at BR34

I love this game SO much, I've just got past this boss (3rd try). I used the Cup formation (better on flank defense), concentrated on the Mr.T guy (sorry forgot his name,LOL), once he's down you can build up moral! Then get the minions before the boss!

Ok, to begin with we did not use all 3 super characters (Dave or Emmy), just rush. I advise that you formate your 5 unions with spaces so that status aliments do not impere all your characters. We completed this boss on our first attempt under this strategy. As all others guides say 'eliminate the hypnodes first then concentrate on the hell gate.' Maintain hp over 1000 minimum. And DO NOT rush the battle if you see the hell gate flashing red. And as a final tip , i cannot stress enough keeping your health up as, if your unions perish they will respawn under the control of the enermy. I hope this helps. Xplosiv

If you have to, just have 1 union attack and the others heal. It's important to stay healed and not die so you don't get enthralled. An enthralled union can heal Hell's Gate. One union at a time chipping away at his health and the rest healing will do the job eventually.
