As long as i can remember i have never been scared in a video game, i have played games that i have thought twice about entering a room but not once has a video game scared me. BioShock seems to be the first, the atmosphere and the enemies just make me jump all the time. Does anyone else get this same effect while playing this game?

Yes!! Bioshock is scary but there's other games scarier than this one for exemple System Shock2 or Silent Hill2 or REV5!!!

I'm 11 and I find it pretty scary,I'm on chapter 5-4 I think,I'm not too sure though, but splicers LUNGING at you at full speed with there mask off is pretty scary,*bleep*ing hate those guys, but luckily I start screaming and blow there head off with the shotgun,I get pissed off really easily.

It sure is creepy.
Aint done much of it yet though. Cant remember where i am but I played the whole demo, and i got the full game for christmas. Haven't played it that much yet, in fact im sure i went further on the demo!
But yeah it is pretty creepy. Just things in general like the little girl towards the beginning humming a tune while jabbing at some dead guy's head with a syringe while you creep slowly past above them

It is Atmospheric, but its not another to scare me tbh. Sure I was on edge a few times. But nothing scared me.

I disagree there i don't think there is just two types, this game isn't a pyschological horror but it is atmospheric in the sense that the area feels lived in and that it used to be an idylic hotspot. The music also adds to the atmosphere and while there are a lot of set pieces that allow for more obvious scares it's the whole walking around and then the jukebox suddenly turning on thats scary in this game for me anyway.

There are two types of scary games:-
1) 'monster in closet' types where the only scare comes from things jumping out at you when your not expecting.
2)psychological ie silent hill, shadowman.
Bioshock does the monster in closet well, but the atmosphere itself isnt too scary at all.

I can only hope the sequel is this good, though a lot can happen between now and when it releases. I am looking forward to the movie though, last i heard Gore Verbinski the director of The Pirates of Carribean trilogy was doing the movie, but that could be one huge false rumour.
