I am new to Madden, and have recently started my first franchise game. Although the actual gameplay is going well 4-0-0, I can't get to grips with the other aspects of my franchise. PLease could someone help with the following:
1) Buying / Selling players - my roster is full after signing one free agent, so how can I get sell any duffers on my team, and how do I buy players from other teams?
2) Team selection - I assume that the AI selects my best team for matches, but am I able to make in game substitutions? For example, if I am leading heavily in the 3rd quarter, can I replace my QB with the second choice QB?
Any other tips would be welcomed.

Release players to make room..if a player is due a bonus that will be a penalty against the salary cap next season.
When starting a franchise mode in 08 I generally sign a higher Overall FA to a 1 year contract with ZERO 0 bonus money and attempt to trade him....like Al Wilson, sign him and deal him for a player you would want.

Is there a guide anywhere on what to do in the off season?
I have just blundered my way through my first off-season having no idea what I was doing!!
Not sure what I should have been looking for during the draft. Ended up basing my picks on their projected round of draft.
The Madden game manual seems to offer no advice on this at all!!!

Okay
First: If your roster is full, and you want a player on another team, you have to offer that team a trade. Go to rosters, then trade player
Second: Yes you can. Go to In game settings, depth chart, and choose what players to switch.
