I really think SC4 is not just becuase of the star wars people but becuase we can be online and when we play offline you get the game makers own created character like (shadow) *voldo* i think that is pretty cool

I prefer the Xbox version of Soul Calibur II, because I prefer using Spawn over Heihachi and Link.

Soul Blade was Tekken 2 with weapons and even higher production values (which back then, was quite a big deal). Unlike other games in this series though, Soul Blade isn't much fun to go back to today.

Soul Calibur was the most revolutionary jump in the series in terms of gameplay. When it launched on the Dreamcast, it received an incredible boost in graphics as well.

Soul Calibur II tightened up the fighting system from SCI and added a few new tricks as well as a simplified parry system, making it easier for newcomers. Character balance was also the best here (guest characters aside). The extra modes weren't quite as memorable as SCI's, but offered better prizes (weapons rather than artwork).

With Soul Calibur III, it seemed as if Namco was trying to change things up a bit for those that complained that SCII was too much like SCI... however they went about it all the wrong way. The fight system felt more in line with SCI and thus, felt looser and more imbalanced than SCII. To make matters worse, many characters had the commands of their moves changed or even removed altogether. On the plus side though, SCIII has hands-down the best extras and additional modes in the entire series, not to mention the character creator. It's just a shame that the fighting itself wasn't as fun as it was before.

Soul Calibur IV still to this day amazes me with its graphics and the custom characters finally don't look out of place with the main cast. The fight system is more in line with SCII, but for whatever reason, Namco took away even more moves for many characters, leading some characters to actually have a smaller moveset than they had in SCI. Balancing was better than III, but still not as good as SCII. The online, while better than Tekken DR, was still a joke (lag-fest). The most disappointing thing however, is the exras and modes... there aren't any. How they could have gone from SCIII's dozens of modes to a mere 2 is bewildering. The Story Mode doesn't have any cutscenes aside from an ending -- endings so under-par that they're on the same level of Tekken Tag. The Tower of Lost Souls is repetitive and unforgiving with little incentive to play through. I hate to say it, but I think Tekken 6 is going to mop the floor with this incomplete package.

It's really hard for me to say which SC, out of II through IV, was the best....

II had more weapons to choose from, weapon master mode, and the weapon gallery. For whatever reason, I really liked the weapon gallery...idk.

III definitely had the biggest improvements...new characters, new modes (character creation, COTS, tales of souls etc.) AND it kept a lot of the features from II and further expanded on them (The weapon exhibition and the art gallery)

IV had the best graphics...but I think the gameplay (especially for the 1p mode that's used to unlock everything, specifically Tower of Lost Souls) was more difficult than II or III's...

...I'd probably vote out IV for sure.

Yeah, Taki was better in II, but even then, look at just how hard floe had to work just to beat Knightmare. Sure, it looked flashy and like Taki was winning, but only because Taki was on the offensive so much. Knightmare only hit her a few times throughout the matches and was able to win.
What, bro? :3 Typo? =P

Yes, I'm late. But whatever. XD

In my opinion, Soulcalibur III was best. Namely due to the custom character system. Having ultimately more options than the main character selection for your characters' weaponry definitely gives it the win for me.

Soul Calibur IV wins. It has online, that makes the hugest difference. Then, I like SCIII, then SCII, Then SCI
It doesn't have online.
