I've never gotten around to trying but what happens if you visit the site of a colossus before you are told to seek it out? Is it literally not there? I'm thinking the last one would have trouble hiding from sight although I can't recall if it's possible to reach it ahead of time or not.

...Wow. That's phenomonal. It's such a MASSIVE land! You could easily search for hours and hours without finding anything.

An hour? Are you kidding!?! You have your sword to guide you it's not that hard, especially the first and second. They may as well be right in front of you.
Normally yes, but he missed the bit where you are told to use your sword to locate the current collosi. Brute force searching could easily take a while.

well like i said i found the first two fairly quickly. for the first one i just went straight after i left the temple. for the second one i decided to just go the opposite direction. plus if i remember correctly the clues dormin gives you for the first ones are pretty helpful. then he just keeps getting vaguer and vaguer.

and yeah, it was easily over an hour looking for the third one. i just thought that's how you were supposed to find them. i think i eventually looked in the manual to see if i was missing something (i never read those things) and it turns out i was! :Þ

but for all the frustration i had to endure, the satisfaction for finding the colossus was a lot greater than that of being guided there. so i guess it was a double-edged sword really.

lol i didn't catch that bit, i think i was just looking around at stuff or something.

i figured it out eventually though. and surprisingly enough i found the first two colossi somewhat quickly. the third one though took me forever! i was pissed!
Dang. I'm impressed. Given the size of the game world I'd not have expected someone to locate the colossi by random searching so quickly. I mean the locations where you find them are kind of distinct compared to the general background and you do get some hints from Dormon's speech but still I'd have expected it would take a hour or more for any given colossi.

You didn't work out how to use your sword as a locator? You are told fairly specifically how what to do as you leave the temple for the first time.

Could you imagine what the game would be like if you didn't even get directions to them? Say if they were all active from the start, but you had to manually search every nook and cranny for them?

May 12, 09 04:36AMVille_Valo

I'd prefer it the way it is, it matches the style of game. It's much easier to defeat each colossus sequentially - if you went for anything after the second or third without starting at the start, you'd be lost!
Of course, they could just direct you to the first one with the sword and all, while still having the others there.
