I don't know if there even was memory cards and the like available for systems like the N64 back then.

um, thats what a CONTROLLER PACK is! from wikipedia:

"The Controller Pak is the console's memory card, comparable to those seen in the PlayStation and other CD-ROM-based video game consoles. Certain games allowed saving of game files to the Controller Pak, which plugged into the back of the Nintendo 64 controller (as did the Rumble and Transfer Paks).[citation needed] The Controller Pak was marketed as a way to exchange data with other Nintendo 64 owners, since information saved on the game cartridge could not be transferred to another cartridge.[citation needed]"

and as you said, where you save to a cartridge, the cartridge is pretty much the memory card...

batteries are different they are inside the cartidrages.
But they pretty much acted the same way memory cards would have.

thats why cartidrages sued to rock you could store your games files onto the game that corresponded it and not being all worrysome because : "oh no i have to erase this data,b ut i need it , what about this other oh but im playing this, and wanting to end this other"

yup, i love that of the wii while the other consoles dont do that, im also seeking a good copy of chrono cross... its a good game but nowhere as near as chrono trigger but i dont like much the DS version due to its limited chances of saving (c'mon 3 spots)
Are you serious?! While games like Kingdom Hearts have over 99.

I know, it really impresses me that you can download games from that late 90s system, even some original NES/SNES titles.
