Ok, so I'm a decent player (2 star rank and about 7000 on WiFi and everything unlocked) but I still use automatic drifting. I notice all the best players use manual and I'd really like to get better at it.

I can just about win on 150cc with manual drift, but still find it difficult. Are there any particular tracks/vehicles that are good for practising this? I'd really like to get this nailed.

Heres some advice. Start using Karts in the Bowsers Castle 3 track. You will soon learn it. And also will pick up manual on a bike too!

Also (if you have the money), buy either a Gamecube controller or a Classic Controller. Does wonders with manual.

if you ever get stuck again try using the gamecube controller, really easy to control, and easy to use the drift with

Thanks guys, yeah I've pretty much got it now. I guess it was a matter of practice. I'm starting to use it online now and doing just as well as I normally do.

One thing Blaze forgot to mention (). When using a bike that drifts inwards, instead of pushing in the opposite direction, pushing the direction you drift in can help you get around sharp corners. It's also possible to get 2 mini boosts doing this on a 180ยบ turn.

Alright, how'd you do?
