Southern Hills I think this is a good map, good size not too small. But I wish they nuke would go off more frequently it's more exciting if you know what I mean? I find the ISA and Helghast bases too open and too easy to spawn camp.

Beach Head
I think this is the better map out of the two purely because it is so chaotic. But I noticed that it is very hard to flank the opposition except a few tunnels and ladders. The water effects are very good and the rain adds to the fun a lot. Also the stealth classes like saboteur and scout don't really get much of a chance. everyone's nearly all the time moving or running. The assault class or the soldier with a LMG is the best for this map.

I don't think it really matters whether its a nuke or an orbital laser. And I definitely agree that Flash and Thunder is far better than Steel and Titanium, which are probably the two worst maps of the entire lot.

Salumun Market is still the best map overall though. It has the most diversity and balance. Corinth Crossing is pretty solid too, but tends to cluterfuck with a lot of people.

i've seen the 'laser', but it's still a nuke that is detonating well it's at least referred to it by the devs

Look at the cruiser when the countdown begins and see for yourself.

it is a nuke, says so on home page of kz.com

Not a nuke, btw. It's the ISA cruiser firing that huge laser.
Anyhoo, I like the F&T maps a lot more than the S&T maps.

Well the first time I was playing Beach Head I was helghast and I won. But you need a lot of structure in Beach Head like squads and putting down spawn grenades before the other team can spawn camp you. I would like the nuke to go off more and the siren to be louder because the only way I know the nuke is going off is if I've just spawned at base(where the siren is at it's loudest) or the screen goes white but by then it's too late.

Your views on these maps are somewhat shortsighted. I love them both, they're among my favorites (and you're right, Beach Head is gorgeously rendered). That said, both are clearly flawed. Southern Hills is brutally biased in favor of the Helghast. Their spawn point has a proper sightline to both the Eastern crater and the Western Sniper tower (sites for the search and destroy), as well as a better sightline to the main fortress. They are also much closer to the sniper tower and can easily take an hold it. ISA, on the other hand, has no line of sight to either bombing point, and the view of the main fortress is obscured by the lower bulkhead of the spawn point. Additionally, the ISA spawn point is easily camped both from the main area immediately beneath the ramps, and from coverage off the sniper tower.

Beach Head, on the other hand, is brutally in favour of the ISA. Their base has a height advantage and a line of sight to both sides of the central draingage pipes. Their side of the map also has tons of cover and defensible locations. Helghast, on the other hand, have poor line of sights from their spawn points and essentially no defensible locations. I think the drainage hill (which is on the Helghast side) was meant to serve that purpose but it is extremely easy for the ISA to take that and keep the Helghast trapped on their own side of the map. I've probably played 20-30 games on Beach Head now and not once have the Helghast ever won, regardless of which side I was on.
