This being the main source, but you can't really understand it.
However according to this, you can get a hint at what it means:

This is definitely interesting. Did you know that Dissidia: Final Fantasy was originally intended to be developed for the PlayStation 2 and not the PSP? Why the change in platforms?

According to Gamekyo, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that the PSP simply offered more options in order for them to integrate more into the game. For example, if it weren't done on the PSP, the trading system or the duels via wi-fi wouldn't have been possible in-game.

Another interesting trivia: Dissidia was originally supposed to be named as "Shade Theory: Fina Fantasy."

Because they'll never do it, have to give credit to Smash Brothers.

I think it would've made for a fun "party" game if it WAS released for PS2, what with needing only 1 console and multiple controllers for people to play, instead of having to have multiple PSP systems (and copies of the game, I assume?). The online part would've been easier as well, I think, hook up and Ethernet cable and voila.

*sigh* Well, I'm glad Dissidia is still gonna happen. But seeing mickey run up and ram his keyblade through Tidus would have made my smile. Like, one of those "My life is not complete," kinda smiles.

That is messed up, man! Though because of that, the awesomeness known as Dissidia came into being.

Ya really gotta add a source, man.

It just doesn't sound right.
Someone mentioned this as well on QJ, and left a link.

I heard about the KH thing awhile ago, iirc it was in an interview.

But I don't remember the source so take it with a grain of salt.

Places.

It basically means, without KH, Dissidia wouldn't exist.

Jun 27, 09 03:41PMJon24hours

Where did you hear that?

Jun 27, 09 09:34AMYoshi Freak

Even more interesting: Dissida was originally a KH game where Disney characters would beat the shit out of each other, but was changed to a Final Fantasy game since they thought it'd be wrong to make Disney characters be beating the shit out of each other
