So I used the cheat to get the pimp slap hand because I heard you can't get it in-game any other way and after having a little rampage with it I put it away, the entertainment value wearing off. Then I saved, completely overlooking the warning about cheats and after I realised this may in fact be bad.

So are there any downside to having cheats active (PS3 version, btw, so there won't be any achievement blockage xD), like perhaps having a different ending or blocking certain things? And is there any way to deactivate the pimp slap hand as a cheat? Thanks.

If you're playing the 360 version it blocks achievements ('cause having infinite health comes in handy for things like surviving with full notoriety and whatnot). If the PS3 version had trophies it would do the same, but it doesn't

Thanks for the answers.

when you have activated a cheat and then go to de-activate it comes up with a message saying something along the lines of.

a cheat was activated on this save file previously, activating cheats prevents you from obtaining xbox live achivments,

Nothing other than many people will not want to play with you because the cheat is a viral.

TheLivingDead188, you're right, but I and many other people, DO NOT take any chances. With all the bugs in this game, I would NEVER take a chance of having my save corrupted or labeled as a cheat save by playing with someone with "cheats enabled."

so what negative affects happen when you do cheat on your profile and save?

really? i thought you couldnt get 100% or certain rewards if you had cheats enabled.

quote ChiroVette
because just playing Co-Op with someone who has "cheats enabled" (the message on their save) will cause the clean save to become a cheat save. Apparently in Co-Op, cheats enabled is a viral.
you mean only if you save the game right? i have a clean save and play with people who have cheats activated all the time and it doesnt change my file at all. i never save if someone else is using cheats though.

i also keep my save backed up on the flash drive that came with the collectors edition, in case it does get saved with cheats i can just replace it.

Not true. Percentage has nothing to do with cheats. You can cheat all you want and still get 100% completion thereafter. There is one major downside, however. Many people have clean saves and if you try to play with someone who has not cheated, then chances are they will not want to play with you, because just playing Co-Op with someone who has "cheats enabled" (the message on their save) will cause the clean save to become a cheat save. Apparently in Co-Op, cheats enabled is a viral.

yes using cheats will block the percentage, hence not being able to achieve 100%. but that's all as far as i know, so if you dont care about that you'll be fine.
