Ok, so I was minding my own business, playing Tales of the Abyss on my PS3 and it decided to yellow light on me... W/e, annoying, but I have no problem sending it for the $150 fee to fix it, I'm just wondering two things:

1. Will I still have all my memory from before the YLOD?
2. Will I still be able to play PS2 games? I don't know if they give me a new PS3 or what, but I do know that the new ones don't play PS2 games and that's a BIG problem for me...

GREAT SUCCESS!

Fixed it using those videos!

Hm. Depends what they do.

For me, they offered to pick up my console and give me a refurbished 60gb. Thus I couldn't back it up.

Get it repaired some where locally. Seeing as you're out of warranty you may as well save some cash.

Yup. I fixed mine using gilksy's guide on the webs and I know jack shit about computers, saved a lot of money and time.

Could be wrong but IIRC if you had a BC ps3, they either give you your old one back or give you another refurbished one of the same type. I read that the refurbished thing happens a lot more often than getting your old one back though.

1.It should. When Microsoft fixed my 360 it still had all my memory. It may be different with the Ps3 though, i'm not sure.
2.Depends on what kind of model you had. If you had the old 80gb system they might put the new one in there.

I am really not sure. Your best bet may be one of the more official Playstation forums. This is one of these events i do not think many on this forum have ever had to deal with it is such a rare occurance.
