I am very much interested in this set up, it's wattage, it's bargain and the reputation of Z-series.

Anyway, the 2 reviews posted here said about this speaker differently in terms of audio quality.

I just want to ask any of you out there who have bought this set, do they sound good, just ok or below average?

Thanks

I absolutely love these speakers. I picked 'em up for $60 at Best Buy, and they're worth every penny and then some. While I don't have a soundcard to support the extra speakers, with a $3 1/8th headphone to stereo RCA cable from Radioshack and the included RCA to dual 1/8th jack connector, I'm able to get sound out of all 5 speakers froma singl e 1/8th plugin. While the speakers sound decent with just the two front sattelites on, Turning on the center channel and the rears makes a world of difference. With drivers as small as the sattelites have, having 3 more improves the sound, especially at high volume.

What I must speak of seperately for a moment is the subwoofer. I was truly impressed with the level of bass it can put out. As a testament to its power, once after I'd moved the speakers and set them up again, I cranked 'em up one of the rear satellites when out. Turns out I hadn't seated the RCA plug fully, and as there is no porting tube on the sub, the RCA plugs take the full force of the bass, and it had actually blown my plug clear out.

As for sounding crappy about 3/4 volume, call my ears weak but I can't turn 'em much above 1/2 without the volume overpowering me, and I usually keep 'em around 1/4.

Thing i don't like abotu these speakers is if you turn them up past 3/4 then they sound like well errr generally crap. But they are a good system. I had my set for about 6 months now and i never regretted buying them.

Well, these speakers are good for some and bad for others. First off if your sitting at your home computer and thinking you need to get more then just your two speaker set that came with your comp but realize that you dont have much money, this is the perfect solution. For non-audio junkies this speaker set is perfect, it gives you 5.1 surround sound for games and great sound for MP3s. If your the type just wanting something more then your two speaker set, this is perfect.

If your the big Audio type who knows too much about Audio then you should, then this is not for you. Its nothing spectacular if you are an expert on 5.1 surround. If you wish to get a big bang out of your MP3s then this is not for you and you might want to look for something else.

I recently purchased these speakers for a mere 70 dollars Canadian and IMHO ..they can't be beat for that price ...the sound is great and the system has volume o-plenty.There are a few minor drawbacks but they are to be expected for the price.1> no digital input and 2>the speakers cables are fixed to the satilites.I guess it all depends on how much you use you computer for multimedia. If you just play a few games and MP3 here and there I think they will suit your purpose just fine..personally I was so impressed with them I opted for the Z-680 for my xbox...

I've heard them.

They're just OK - definitely nothing special.

For "special" audition a set of Monsoon MH-505s - at $140US they completely blow the Logitechs (and the cheap Altec Lansing 5100 5.1 model) away in just about any category you could name from sound quality on down.
