Unotechnology, a Korean game developer, is now developing the first ever online 3D action combat RPG game based on KOF characters named The King of Fighters Online (same name as our website?).
The game will be meant for the PC (Personal Computer) platform. Currently the game is undergoing beta testing and no known scheduled date of completion and release is known yet.
The 3D world that the game is based in is a combination of South Town (a place in KOF) and a harbour city in USA.
New storylines/episodes are being added as 'seasons', where Season 1 is about rumours that Rugal Bernstein is being located in South Town, a city of plots and opportunities.
The relationships between the characters and part of the world (South Town) is based on the original KOF arcade game.
Unlike in the arcade version, all characters will be able to progress fairly in the storyline. So there won't be any single character who will be leading the game.
New characters and storylines will be added to the game continuously.
Following the game's initial release in Korea, Unotac plans to bring the game to Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China etc) in the second half of 2002. Also, they are expecting to launch the game in Europe and North America in 2003.
