I prefer the arcane archer, by going fighter/wizard/arcane archer I find that I can defeat about anything, including the maker guys

There is no "best shifter build". Shifters SUCK mightily in combat. For example, my Rogue/Druid/Shifter 5/5/13 can't lay a paw on Dahanna, that dwarf bloody merchant in HotU. Forget taking on the Maker unless you get VERY lucky with a death spell (he's not immune). Sure, the mindflayer can stop her cold, but then he can't lay a paw on her. She's bloody stunned, and I'm MISSING every single sneak attack. Meanwhile, she's dealing out more damage in a single blow than I'm doing in 3 minutes of trying to swipe at her. The list goes on. Shifters are GREAT for role playing, sneaking around, and taking out low-level combat types. They really, truly suck for dealing with any form of combat with ANY high level type, be it fighter, mage, what-have-you.

I'm going back to my monks. With the right gloves, I can lay waste to the Maker in a few blows with a level 18 monk, and Dahanna was barely a snack. Meanwhile, the level 23 shifter is getting his ass handed to him. Easy takeout on all her helpers, but can't lay a paw on her. Useless.

i tried 10 druid/10 monk/20 shifter... The problem was, I was stuck at 79 ac and couldnt get above that.

If i recall, for how many monk levels you have, gives you ac. Just because you take one lvl of monk, wont give you the same ac benefits as a lvl 40 monk.

When i build my new computer, i was thinking about trying a 10 druid/30 monk. By going 20 lvls of monk, the 10 lvls of druid and then the rest monk. It never said you have to be an epic druid, u just have to be epic to get dragon form.
