I downloaded Quake for nothing from a P2P site, (naughty me!) and it runs fine in XP if you use the OpenGL version.
Quake 2 will work if you run the install program with Windows 98 compatibility, and also download the appropriate patch.

hello everyone

thank you for your replies to my first question. now I have another. Quake 1,2 & 3 were made in the days of win95&98 are they compatible with the newer OS like win XP & 2000 prof? If they are not, are there patch for the problem or must I set up a win95 OS on my system. I am looking forward to a major quake session, starting with Q1 and finishing with Q3. Hopefully I can do that in chronological order. If there is anyone out there who have encounter these issue please drop me a line.
