I downloaded Quake for nothing from a P2P site, (naughty me!) and it runs fine in XP if you use the OpenGL version. Quake 2 will work if you run the install program with Windows 98 compatibility, and also download the appropriate patch. See other posts for details.

hello everyone
thank you for your replies to my first question. now I have another. Quake 1,2 & 3 were made in the days of win95&98 are they compatible with the newer OS like win XP & 2000 prof? If they are not, are there patch for the problem or must I set up a win95 OS on my system. I am looking forward to a major quake session, starting with Q1 and finishing with Q3. Hopefully I can do that in chronological order. If there is anyone out there who have encounter these issue please drop me a line.
thank you.
