Well, I found a real timeline for Zelda!

·THE MINISH CAP: Well, this is ancient Hyrule, there is no Master Sword, and the people don't know what is the triforce, the Zelda I of this game was cursed and put to eternal sleep sometime after the end of the game, this game starres Link and Zelda I.

·FOUR SWORDS: This is the obvious sequel to THE MINISH CAP, it starres Link and Zelda II.

·FOUR SWORDS ADVENTURES: This is the obvious sequel to FOUR SWORDS, it starres Link and Zelda III and Ganondorf I.

·THE OCARINA OF TIME: This game is set in a different area of Hyrule than in the previous games, in the gap between FOUR SWORDS ADVENTURES and THE OCARINA OF TIME the Hyrulians knowed of the Triforce, and the Master Sword could have been forjed in that time (It could also be forjed before THE MINISH CAP, but is less likely) after Zelda sens Link back in time, it created a split timeline, it starres Link and Zelda IV, and Ganondorf II.

·MAJORA'S MASK: This is the obvious sequel to OCARINA OF TIME (It's set on Kid Link's timeline), it starres Link IV.

·ORACLE OF AGES and ORACLE OF SEASONS: This is centuries after MAJORA'S MASK, but before the Great Flood, you may are asking ''This game can't be set in this place because Twinrova resurrects Ganon in this game, but in OCARINA OF TIME Ganon wasn't dead, he was sealed!'' that's true, but Twinrova resurrects Ganondorf I from FOUR SWORDS ADVENTURES, not Ganondorf II from OCARINA OF TIME!, this starres Link and Zelda V and Ganondorf I.

·THE WIND WAKER: Tingle is here because the original Tingle somehow got from Termina to Hyrule, maybe he followed Link IV? well the sealing of Ganondorf II broke, after this game, Link IV and Tetra went exploring and found a new land, this land was called Hyrule, paying tribute to the original Hyrule. It starres Link and Zelda VI and Ganondorf II.

·A LINK TO THE PAST: This could have been a loooong time after THE WIND WAKER, because all the places have the names from THE OCARINA OF TIME era, the seal in wich Ganondorf II was at the end of THE WIND WAKER brokes, and this begins the game's story, at the end of the game, Ganon II is killed (Not sealed). This game also needs to be here because it's the last use of the Master Sword, This game starres Link and Zelda VII and Ganondorf II.

·LINK'S AWAKENING: This is the obvious sequel of A LINK TO THE PAST, Link VII sailed out of Hyrule so that Ganondorf II couldn't be resurrected, this game just starres Link VII.

·THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: Ganon II is resurrected (Maybe his henchmen found Link VII and killed him?) so Ganon II invades Hyrule, the survivors escape to the North of Hyrule, but Link IIX saves the day, this game starres Link and Zelda IIX, and Ganon II.

·THE ADVENTURE OF LINK: This is the obvious sequel to THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, this game is set on the north of Hyrule, Link must awaken up Zelda I, wich was put to sleep sometime after THE MINISH CAP, the bad guy of this game is Dark Link and the followers of Ganondorf, that want to resurrect him killing Link IIX, this game starres Link and Zelda IIX and Zelda I.

u guys think all this? well these are all lies. ive been over this subject a million times there is no timeline at all. the video game makers just make a new and more advanced version of zelda. thats what they always do and thats what theyll keep doing

heres my timeline

Minish Cap
this must go first because of a few things. Firstly, all the landmarks in MC have different names to the other games like mount crenel instead of death mountain, secondly, ganondorf is NEVER mentioned in this game, but is mentioned in every other zelda game except majoras mask, thirdly, there are no kokiri in minish cap, the minish, after a very long time, evolved into the kokiri and that is why they never grow up, lastly, and leastly, link gets his cap in minish cap.
¦
Ocarina Of Time
this is here because ganondorf first appears in this and a few other zelda games refer to the hero of time.
Child Timeline
Majoras Mask
no explanation needed.
¦
Twilight Princess
this has been confirmed by nintendo to be after majoras mask.
¦
Four Swords Adventures
ganon is reincarnated in this, shown by zelda calling him an "ancient demon reborn", also he gets sealed in the four sword.
¦
Link To The Past
ganon is somehow freed, this must be aftr four swords adventures because ganon has the trident of power.
¦
Links Awakening/oracle games
link travels to different lands on a ship, somewhere he gets shipwrecked.
¦
Legend Of Zelda
at the end of link to the past link makes a wish, his wish is that everything was back to normal, but that meant ganon was alive too.
¦
Zelda II
End of child timeline.

Adult Timeline
Wind Waker
Phantom Hourglass

before i write the second part to my time line i just want to clear something up:

in my time line the NES games featured the original beast Ganon which Link destroyed, OOT features the same Ganon only resurected by Twin Rova, when the split time line thing happens at the end of OOT, there are two Ganons the one from the
quote
child
time line and the one from the
quote
adult
time line. during MM the prision which holds Ganon is so powerful it splits Ganondorf from his beast-like self (Ganon, now there are three Ganons, 2 past 1 future).
In the Oracle games it is the beast form that tries to escape but again thanks to Link he dosen't manage to. however in ALTTP the beast Ganon finally escapes and then is killed by Link, now leaving 1 Ganon in the past and 1 in the future.
now this is all i have written in the first part of my timeline however this i will continue this in the second part to my time line.

please feel free to ask any questions you may have and i'll try and answer them as best, I have written quite alot on this time line and almost believe it to be the true one, i have even made connections between all the characters including Impa, Din, Gorons and more.

my time line goes a little like this (note this is only part 1):

the Legend of Zelda - an ancient story of a hero who destroyed the beast Gannon and saved Zelda and land of Hyrule (as the story gets passed down it is altered many times)

the Adventure of Link- direct sequel to Zelda I (Link wakes the original Zelda thus the story becomes legend and in memorial of this legendary event every princess born into the royal family is named after her.)

--------------------------------------------

Zelda Ocarina of time - Centuries later Gannon is reborn/reserected by Twin rova and kept in a human form (Ganondorf)until he is ready to become king, Link and Zelda are also reborn. at the end split time line thing happens were there are now two Hyrules, two Zelda's, two Ganondorfs but only 1 Link ( there is no alternate Link as he was sent back in time and dose not remain in the future)

Majora's Mask -Direct sequel to OOT. at the end Link leaves Terminia on Epona and returns to Hyrule were...

Oracle of Seasons/Ages-
He is called to hyrule castle via telepathic message (from Zelda?) and is told twin rova are trying to bring gannon back from the prison realm where the sages from OOT sent him and evidently his beast form gets seperated from his human form thus creating 2 Ganons. When Link defeats twin rova and stops ganon from returning through the void he saves Zelda again he decides to venture out for a while (maybe still in search of navi, see ocarina of time.)

Link's Awakening- while traveling the high seas, a storm erupts thus shipwrecking Link on that island i can't quite remember the name of. At the end when Link sets sail on his raft he sets back for Hyrule where...

A Link to the Past- Link goes to live with his Uncle (who Link might have met during his time at sea and decided to move to Hyrule) with the help of that wizard guy Ganon escapes the prison realm and takes his revenge by destroying the temple of time and hunts down the seven sages. Zelda then hides the master sword in the in the lost woods so as to protect it from ganon. at the end of the game Ganon beast is destroyed and the world turns back to normal.

that's it so far will type up part 2 some time soon!!

I think I'm confused....

But ZeekLTK, your idea makes the most sense.

Sep 15, 09 08:25PMZeekLTK

People trying to piece together the timeline are thinking about it the wrong way.

Here's how I see it:

In modern times, a bunch of old men in Hyrule are sitting around a camp fire.

One of them says "you ever hear about the legend of this land? Let me tell you".

He tells about this thing called the Triforce, and how this evil man named Ganon was trying to use it to take over the world. He captured the princess Zelda and split the triforce into pieces, given to his followers. This guy, Link, comes along and he searches the whole country side, up and down, takes years but he finally finds all the pieces. With that, he goes after Ganon, uses a silver arrow to kill him and saves the land from evil."
  • This was the first NES game - The Legend of Zelda**
Just as the man is finishing his story, one of the other old men cuts him off "No, no, no, no. You crazy old fool. That's not how it happened. You see, there is this evil spirit named Ganon who supposedly will come back from the dark world to conquer the land. He had followers with vast powers, but none strong enough to bring him back. They believed that they needed the blood of a special type of person, and the only way they could lure this person to Hyrule was to place princess Zelda into a deep sleep. The plan worked - somewhat. The hero, Link, showed up, but the evil doers were unable to get his blood. Instead, he scoured the land and you're right, he did conquer all of their fortresses and dungeons, and finally he reached death mountain where he defeated the leader of these fools to wake the princess and save the land of Hyrule."
  • aka The Legend of Zelda: The Adventures of Link **
"You both have fuzzy memories I see. Let me tell you how it all started, and I'll use more details to show that I know what I'm talking about. Zelda wasn't sleeping, she was trapped in Hyrule castle. This evil wizard, which I think is what you were trying to tell us about - he didn't put the princess to sleep, he did something to her to turn her into a crystal which he used to open the gate to the 'golden land' - the land where the triforce rests. Once opened this theif named Ganondolf was to steal the triforce! Before being sent into the land of the triforce, Zelda used her powers to communicate with all the men near by, calling them to come rescue her before it was too late. Finally, this young man named Link hears her call and goes off to the castle to rescue her. He ends up going across the land and fighting in a few temples in order to gain access to something both of you forgot to mention - the Master Sword - which he needs to defeat this evil threat. He gets the sword, and gets to the castle, but it's too late. The wizard has opened the path to the golden land which allows Ganondolf to get the triforce. He uses his evil heart to turn the land into a 'dark world' in which Link eventually fights his way through, conquering more fortresses and dungeons until he finally reaches Ganon on Death Mountain and defeats him with, yes, a silver arrow. Thus saving Zelda and all of Hyrule as well."
  • aka A Link to the Past **

A fourth man speaks up, "Ok, ok. Let's get one thing straight. Link was not this kid living in town who just decided to go save the world. He was an orphan who had been abandoned by his parents and he was being raised by the forest people. Then one day the leader of the forest, the great Deku Tree, summoned him. The Deku Tree was wise, he knew of troubles outside his forest - which [guy #3] is correct in that Ganondolf was trying to sneak into the golden land to take the triforce - and he charged Link with the task of stopping him. Link did go to three temples to get the master sword, that is correct, but when he got the master sword - I think you confused the two... Link was from the forest and the master sword was from the castle town - he inadvertently unlocked the path to the golden land for Ganondolf to sneak into and conquer. He reappeared 7 years later and yes, he did go around to other temples, defeating Ganon's army before eventually defeating Ganon himself. But he didn't kill Ganon, he just locked him away forever. And the battle wasn't on Death Mountain, it was at the castle you old fool!"
  • aka Ocarina of Time **
Etc. Etc.

Basically, I think the "timeline" isn't that long. It's the span of one game - you pick the game. Each game is the retelling of the SAME story from thousands of years ago.

Except now, because it's been so long, everyone is telling it has heard it differently, or added their own thoughts to it. So they are all very similar but they disagree on certain aspects. Some remember that the battle with Ganon was on Death Mountain (first Zelda, Link to the Past, etc.), others remember it being elsewhere (like Ocarina of Time). Some think Zelda was being held captive by Ganon, others remember hearing that she was not captive and actually aided Link in fighting Ganon, or that she was not part of it at all (sleeping or some other reason). Some think the master sword was in the forest (Link to the Past) others in the Temple of Time (Ocarina). Etc.

That's why it's called the LEGEND of Zelda - it's a legend. No one can remember it clearly because it's been passed down through the years and just like all legends, it has been modified over time by the people who retell it. So there are different versions and each story is someone's version of what happened. Someone is pretty sure at that time Hyrule was flooded and under water (maybe like the Bible's Great Flood?) and thus they tell the story of Windwaker. Others recall there being a team of heros instead of just one man and they tell the story of the Four Swords. Etc.

There is only one Link, one Zelda, and one Ganon. Everyone remembers that Ganon was trying to destroy/conquer Hyrule, that Link was the hero who defeated him, and that Zelda was involved in some way, but no one can remember exactly how or what the exact details to the adventure were because it happened so long ago and they weren't there (think about it, in the games no one is really with Link [aside from the fairy in some of them] - so how is anyone really going to know what actually happened unless Link sat down and wrote a book about his adventures himself, which seems unlikely).

That is my theory at least - it's the same story being told by different people and they keep mixing up the details.

The things we need to figure out are which parts of each of the stories are "real" (are in most of the stories) and which ones are made up for that particular story but don't carry over to many (if any) of the others. Was Link from the forest or from the city? Was the master sword in the forest or the temple of time? Was Ganon really on Death Mountain or was he in the Hyrule Castle?

There are some things that can be agreed upon. Link recovered three [somethings] from three temples that he used to get the master sword. Link then collected 7(?) [something elses] from more temples in order to either collect the triforce (first Zelda) or gain access to Ganon (Link to the Past, Ocarina, etc.) or something.

We also know that Link needed a special item to defeat Ganon, most likely a silver arrow. It can certainly be agreed on that he was a master swordsman who also carried a shield at all times and that he also made use of various other items he found along his way such as arrows, bombs, and bottles.

Through his journey, in which he explored the entire landscape of the countryside - deserts, lakes, rivers, mountains, swamps, and cities - he wore a particular type of cloth, green in color with an odd but memorable cap, also green. He most likely had a horse. He also most likely had a fairy acquaintance for most of his trip.

Etc.

What do you guys think?

This timeline is nonsense. Here is a real timeline:
Minish Cap
|
v
Four Swords
|
v
Ocarina of Time -> Wind Waker -> Phantom Hourglass
|
v
Majora's Mask
|
v
Twilight Princess
|
v
The Legend of Zelda*
|
v
Zelda II
|
v
Four Swords Adventures
|
v
A Link to the Past
|
v
Link's Awakening
|
v
Oracle of Ages/Seasons

*I think the first two are pretty well accepted by most people, it makes most sense. Ocarina of Time is third, decades (at least) after Four Swords. Obviously, this is a split timeline, with one timeline being that of Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, and the other "main" timeline. Majora's Mask is the direct sequel to Ocarina, no point in arguing that one, and then Twilight Princess. Next was the hardest thing to decide: whether the original games came before or after LTTP. I decided that they came before, because there are still followers of Ganon in the second one, and even though they are trying to resurrect Ganon with Link's blood, and fail, there are definetely more ways to bring Ganon back, as seen in other games. (HOWEVER, it COULD be the other way around, but I doubt it). Next is Four Swords Adventures. Obviously, Ganon needs to have been killed in the past to be resurrected, and he was killed with Silver Arrows in The Legend of Zelda. After that is A Link to the Past, followed by Link's Awakening and the Oracles. I believe that all four games have the same Link, because he definetely is the same in LTTP and LA, and since no other Link's went to sea, except in the WW timeline, this makes sense.

hey to further solidify lancuns theory of the time line there are no zoras in adventure of link and there is a very rito looking creature spotted in aol dungeons also if you look at the map of Hyrule from aol it looks very watery and just for effect it looks kinda like termania this might be speculation but what if link and tetra found termania and claimed it as the new Hyrule and what if not all of hyrule was covered in water what if Gerdu desert was left behind and explored in the first Zelda for the nes again speculation but it would answer some questions and solidify a split time line theory

oh and heres a link to Lancuns theory sorry i couldn't embed it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OPyRT1JCX8

Well if you think there a better timeline than put it up instead of making people look for it themselves.

I believe it could be this time line...

you should all look up lucans theory on youtube it makes way more sense than this generic thing
