I'd heard about him showing up during Bowser events randomly, but had never seen it - but recently when playing it, suddenly that stupid ape's been showing up almost all the time that someone lands on Bowser's space and ruins the Bowser event
He also favours the computer characters; he never seems to do it when I land on Bowser's space
Why must he ruin Bowser's fun?

Yeah, I've only seen him 1 time, and that was turn 1 when I hit a Bowser Space. Maybe it's the character you choose.

To be honest, Donkey Kong has only showed up a total of 1 time in my game! I remember I set a Party Mode with only the CPU playing. I remember he appeared and helped Mario. Even though Donkey Kong saves them, they still lose 10 coins.

Human players on average are usually in 1st place.. Donkey Kong will probably help out everyone except the first place player, which is probably why it seems like he favors the computers.
That or maybe DK just doesn't like you..
