This may be a little outdated, but I always wanted to post my top 5 anyway, I can' really remember the numbers but my on my last play through mine were:
5. Rhys 4. Soren 3. Ike 2. Stefan 1. Oscar
Oscar has always been one of my favorite characters. Him and Soren are almost always included in the list somewhere whenever I play.

Really, I can't pin point 5 favorite characters, since I played many times over and over, with different characters. But, if I must choose one, it would be
1.Ike with Aether. One time, he got 300s kills. 2.Soren. 200s I think. 3.Boyd. 200s, but little less than Soren. 4.Nephenee. 180s but more than 200 if you give her luna. 5.Elincia. She hits more than twice, so useful. 150s.
But that just is my opinion. Well, if it would help to refer, be my guest and raise them.

Also my final characters that I used (i.e. to be transfered) were: Ike Stefan Gatrie Soren Nephy Jill Oscar Rhys
Everyone capped Skill and Spd. Ike had Str, Skill, Spd, Def, and Res (short 5 HP of capping without use of robes) Stefan had Str, Skill, Spd Gatrie had HP, Str, Skill, Spd, and Def Soren had Mag, Skill, Spd, and Res Nephy had Str, Skill, Spd, and Def Oscar had Str, Mag, Skill, Spd, and Def Rhys had Mag, Skill, Spd, and Res Jill had HP, Str, Skill, Spd, and Def
Jill had Def capped at lv. 20/8 XD And the debate on the 2 Robes that you get was either use one on Ike and then have another robe that wouldn't allow anyone else to cap HP, or to give both to Jill and let her cap HP since she needs it in RD.

I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it had Ike, Oscar, Boyd, Soren and...Astrid, surprisingly. I didn't think I had used her that much, but apparently so.
