OK, i didn't bother reading 3 pages of this but if it hasn't been said already. It is obviously a sequel, they have Vaan in his skypirate ship with Penelo in her new clothes, the intro movie takes place directly after the end of XII. Basch is in his judge armour and Ashe is queen. It is a sequel no matter what they say. Also I saw a screen with something about someone wanting to start the war again!
I agree. If it weren't for the airship and the fact that it takes place after FFXII last scene makes it a sequel.

Correction to what Krunal said:

This game DOES have Ashe, as a playable character to top it off. She isn't much involved in the story line, but she is there and from around chapter 6, you have her in your party permanently.

Also, there IS a gambit system, except it is much simpler. Each character only has one gambit. That doesn't mean they don't do anything else on their own, they do, but the gambit is priority. For example, if you set Penelo to use her Revive gambit, she will concentrate on resuscitating fallen party members, but when everybody is back on the board and she doesn't need to use the Revive gambit, she heals those whose HP is not full.

What exactly is Ashe relationship with Vaan? I've always thought they were siblings, from their looks.

<--- Didn't play FFXII .___.

he helped rescue her in the beginning of the ps2 game. all he is to her in that game is a friend. also, it states that it takes place on year after the events of ff12.

While fanboyism is rampant in wiki, some editors work as hard as they could to give accurate info. i rather doubt forums like the one in gamefaqs, THAT's fanboyism incarnate.

Anyway, relation to FFXII? Herebe spoilers.
quote
All six main characters make their return, it DOES have Ashe, and also including the boy emperor, the bounty hunter, the three pirate assistants, three familiar faces from rabanastre, and the moogle mechanic.

Old locations like Rabanastre will return, though the story mainly takes place in the purvama lemures, a floating continent like Bhujerba.

The game plays as a real-time strategy, no more turn-based. There are quickenings, one for each character.

All the espers except a few will also return to the game, albeit new ones named after past FF summons and monsters.

You control an airship early in the game, and this airship will be your base of operations.

vaan and penelo's relationship will be revealed in a secret ending. in RW, their relationship is somewhat disturbed by a certain character.
blah, that's all I'm writing here for now.

Oh? Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales? I hear it's an interesting game. I haven't played it yet myself, but it looks quite fun. XD I should import it.

As for developing a relationship between Penelo and Vaan, from the videos I have seen, it appears that the two of them are a lot closer this time around. XD

Let's hope that the story is better than FFXII. There was absolutely no love interest between Vaan and Penelo....maybe they noticed and will expand that.

Now I have to get a DS, and my wife has been begging for a pink one....I may just have to suffer with the pink for a while. Might as well pick up the Chocobo game for DS while I am at it.

It should be released outside of Japan as well. It wouldn't make sense not to. If the game is directly related to FFXII, which was released everywhere, then Revenant Wings should be as well.
