even though vcs cam out after vc, vcs takes place 2 years before vc

^^Those reasons are legit and I never thought of that except for the first part.

I'd like to touch upon that for a sec; One really big reason why I think Vic died is that Rockstar tried to use the same character model in the beginning stages of Vice City Stories. For instance, this is the beta model for Vic Vance:

And here is allegedly Vic from Vice City:

You really can't ignore the blatant resemblance.

Why I think Vic dies:

Retcon.
They make VC and the guy at the start dies because R* never planned to make him a character in a later GTA.But when they decide to make the chracter Vic as the lead in a prequel, they aren't going to make you play as a hunched over guy who can barely walk, so they drastically change him to make him a more appealing lead.

Remember in GTA 3 where Claude 'Fido' Speed gets a message from Ray Machowski saying that he will meet Claude in Miami.
They used Miami because they didn't have a made up name for Miami (or at least they didn't plan on calling it Vice City from GTA1) at that time so only in Vice City is it called VC and not Miami.

Now in VCS, Lance is always complaing about Vic treating him like a child.Well in VC he tells Tommy not to treat him like a kid because his brother WOULD do that which may suggest that Vic is no longer alive which would likely mean that it is Vic that dies in the beginning of VC.

It's surprising how many people discuss a possible death in a video game, and so deeply, people are looking into it so much. I actually just signed up to neoseeker just now, so i could reply to this thread.

I myself think that Pete was the brother that died, for a start the most common reason why it might not be Vic, is due to his appearance and voice in Vice City. His back is arched, which means he's aged a lot in 2 years, he sounds rather Mexican, very different to his voice in Vice City Stories. The hair and moustache thing is funny, as Vic can easily grow that in 2 years, so that doesn't really play any part.

The thing that i don't get is that Vice City came out long before Vice City Stories, and if Rockstar knew what the apparent "Vic" looked like in Vice City, they would have made some resemblance in Vice City Stories, so we all knew.

Lance never mentions the name Vic in Vice City, just says about him losing his brother. The fact we haven't even seen Pete, no idea what he looks or sounds like, means there could always be a possibility that it is him who dies in the opening scene of Vice City.

Wikipedia, many forums and many sites, they all say Vic was the one who died, but Rockstar have kept everyone wondering, and since they haven't mentioned anything, we may find out in later titles. Personally, Vic was a big character, playing as the main one in Vice City Stories. To be set 2 years before Vice City, to go through the whole game, knowing as a player of GTA, that he dies in Vice City anyway, seems a bit pointless.

Everyone at the moment is assuming it's Vic, but we have no evidence that Pete is a possibility either, it's all a dead end really.

I think it's all there on purpose by Rockstar, to keep fans minds boggling and waiting for an answer.

And I think that it's revealed in VC that there were at least 3 Vance brothers.

Yes. Vic Dies.
They changed the character a little since VC was out.
But back when they made VC they didn't know they were going to make him a character good enough to be the main one.
The only reason lance is in VC is cos Vic dies, and he wants revenge!!!!!!!!!!!
