All right, I'm playing this thing on the PC and I'm feeling the lack of an ability to save like the lack of a hull on a ship.
The controls ...well, let's say they're not too well thought out, and the program doesn't always register when I hit them. I've finally gotten to the point where I can get all four ladders knocked down on my third or fourth try, but what I really need to do then is save my progress until I can figure out how to work that darn door without dying. It's very discouraging to have to go ten minutes between tries.
Older emulators like NesTen have a function that allow saving in previously site-only (like save crystal) games. Anything out there for this thing?
In the meantime, I'd settle for a tip on how to get out of the mansion before it blows. I've gotten all the way to the door, but when I press "hand" it doesn't always seem to register.
If anyone's having trouble with the ladders on the "Royal Damsel, Jack's Distress" story, then I can help.

Playing with the keyboard is AWFUL. They didn't so much as include a piece of paper saying which key was supposed to represent each symbol. It's very VERY counterintuitive.

I know the odds of this being answered aren't good as this thread is from a year ago, but I'm stuck trying to knock down the ladders. I can get three of the four, but cannot get the fourth. When I play as Jack, Elizabeth is constantly behind me blocking my path and I run out of time. Playing as Elizabeth isn't any better but at least Jack stays out of my way.
I'm playing the PC version with a gamepad. Is playing with the keyboard better?
Mahalo for any help.
