I've got the game, and I get over 120 FPS usually on 1280x1024 maxed out:

Core 2 Quad Q6600
HD4830
4 GB RAM

I tested my A64 system, and it passes everything, but on the recommended settings, it shows it as the bar before the line on CPU (A64, but recommends C2D) and the RAM (1.5GB, but recommends 2GB).

But, I have the game, and it plays FLAWLESSLY on all max settings at 1280x1024. But I attribute that to the HD3850, and how well it does in Bioshock in DX9 mode. I believe it performed with or better than an 8800GTS, which it wouldn't do in your average games.

Blegh, my brand new computer can't run this, and I don't have the cash to fork out for more ram/a new video card. Oh well, maybe in a few years.

It says I can, and it is even over the "recommended" line, but every time I try to start it, it shows the logo, then instantly gives me the "bioshock.exe has stopped working" notice, and shuts down. Any ideas? Because I really want to play it...
(BTW, I have Vista Home Premium)

Are you running it as an admin? If not, right-click on the Bioshock.exe file and click on Properties. On the Compatibility tab, check the box next to "Run this program as an administrator" and click on OK.

See if this helps.

whoa...

I just installed the game on my new PC. Intel C2D E6550 @2.33Ghz, 2GB, ATI radeon HD 3850 256MB and the game looks absolutely amazing. I am not able to use DX10 because I don't have vista

Though ran "can you run it" and it is failed me on recommended mainly because it recommends 512MB

Either way the game runs faster, smoother and better than my old PC which was Intel C2D E6400 @2.13Ghz, 2GB, Ati Radeon X1600XT 512MB

i cant my video card is too bad

I did some googling and the fix is by deleting the Bioshock folder in Application Data, which didn't work for me. That problem is the only thing stopping me from buying the whole game, as i'm quite happy with the fps i'm getting.
