Alright, after playing the new madden on my ps3, i have become so pissed that i decided to release my temper on a forum because the gameplay suks to be quiet frank. First off im a die hard madden player who was totally siked about playing this for the ps3, dont get me wrong the ps3 has been awsome to me,but this game really put me over the edge in my willingness to stand by sony. After playing hours on end, both versions, (ps3 and xbox360)i discovered u haveto be legally blind to not notice the difference between game speeds. The 360 version is fluid, fast, and a little less crisp on the graphics,( freakin a little thats it). The ps3 version is f'in slow, choppy, button response is lacking and the ability to perform a successful pass rush is nearly impossible. To see the awsome ps2 engine go to shit on the next gen system is a damn shame.Thats all i got to say,yes im bringing down a product that i spent 60 bucks on because i wanna warn the rest that this is by far the worst version of madden i have ever played,,,, urs trully jonny cash p.s. i tried not to swear too much during that rant

Yea its a hella hard game 2 play because of all the interceptions but i mean thats kinda real cus in 07 there were barely ever interceptions. yet they get 2 much some times, like i did the precision passing to my reciever in the endzone on a left slant and he was open, all of a sudden the db comes from his right and picks it off way to easy. when i watched the replay, my receiver did the "dreaded spin catch" and was a few yards away, maybe cus the db pushed him as he approached the ball but idk. i was pissed and turned off my ps3.
I have to agree that it is a major disappointment. This is my first Madden since like 04 or 05, whichever it was. I absolutely loved that last one that I had. Played it non stop through about 15 years of the franchise. Games were competitive and, most importantly, fun. Seeing as I just got a PS3, I thought I would "upgrade" my Madden, too. But 08 is the total opposite. Every game is nothing more than an interception return competition. QBs do nothing but throw interceptions. Hell, I've even put it on Pro and adjusted sliders, but no change. I even took it one step further and made a QB and WRs with 100 overall ratings and put them on the Patriots. What happened? Interceptions galore. What gives? AI is just horrible. The fun is gone.
Not to mention the loss of customization features disappoints me also. But compared to the gameplay issues, that's nothing.
Simply put, the series has gone down the toilet. I guess that's just what happens when there is only one company putting out an NFL game each year. But I sure won't be buying a Madden again until it gets a complete overhaul.
And before anyone says anything... No, I do not suck at Madden. I went and popped my old Madden back in and played and had a great time.
i think u suck. i'm not flaming you or anything but ok, look at tom brady's season. 8 ints. i had vince young as my qb on all-pro. 13 ints, and only had so many because i'd hit x twice n so it'd hike it and then throw it to the TE with the LB RIGHT there so he'd pick it off.
defense? yea ok, i intercept the ball like no other usually. but that's because my defense is stacked. bailey, sheppard, hall, trufant at CB. bob sanders n chris hope at S. n my DL is tommie harris, will smith, luis castillo, and vince wilfork. so sacks and ints are expected.
the only problem i really have a problem with is spreading catches. my #1 receiver will have 8 catches meanwhile my #2 will have like 1 if that. my rb and TE's individually have more catches than my #2-5 receivers combined. that's my only problem.

I would not go as far to say the game is a disappointment but the game is really choppy online and offline. The WR mini game is hard as hell and i am not bad at coverage but it ia way harder this year.

only reason it's a disappointment to me is the fact games vary.
i don't change a thing, all-madden, adjusted sliders....i'm having a blow-out of the steelers (24-7 at half) and then i'm getting whooped by the pats (30-7 at half)....
is it the fact that the weapons play that much of a role? no... it's just weird. plays will destroy one team but is another team's strongest point.

I still don't see what people mean by the game is choppy. I mean, yeah, I haven't played it on the 360. But if you've only played it on one console, then there's nothing to compare it to. I prefer to look at it in a positive way, yeah, there are it's downsides like it being hard to rush the QB, more frequent turnovers, but in a way, it makes the game more fun as it's harder. I used to play on All-Pro with slightly adjusted sliders on the PS2. Now I play on Pro with adjusted sliders to make it harder in some areas, and easier in others and it's been my favorite playing experience.
The button thing you can fix yourself if you don't like it so much. They were just trying something out, and personally I only think X became stiff arm so people wouldn't forget about the stiff arm move with the inclusion of the Stiff Arm Ball Carrier with the new Weapons thing. Before Madden 08 I hardly ever used the stiff arm, this year though I use it a lot(yes, I did change it to R2 though) but it still worked on me.
Maybe it's just the kind of person I am, but I'm not dissapointed at all this year. Hell, this is actually the best Madden I've played since 05- and even then it's close. Now I actually want to play a lot of games on my franchises instead of just playing 2 or 3 a season and simulating the rest.

I'm with JC, I too am a diehard fan. I've played I think every year of Madden except maybe 1 (2003??) since 1992. Quite frankly, the gameplay does SUCK! I pride myself on my defense, and how I can switch to ppl and make great plays. Not possible in this game. The swat button now SUCKS and doesnt work well, and they are not even responding by going for an interception when I use triange. Pass D blows. Also, why does strafe now all of a sudden not move as well either? I'm having a hell of a time using my LB's in zone coverages. UGH. Next up is running, even on PRO, with the patriots line, I'm getting hit in the backfield 50% of my running plays. I mean, I get the hand-off and boom, I don't have a chance. Thats just dumb. I'm not done yet.... how about kickoffs or just any time in general, the names under your player go away??? Are you kidding me? When more than 2 plays are near each other, its damn hard keeping track of exactly where your player is while reading the runner and the blocking you have to get through. Please, dont you dare think I'm a newb at Maddens either, I've won some good money from serious tournaments.
I just think they went and changed things for the hell of it that didnt need changing. The buttons for everything were almost perfect in 07 for ps2. Now, I'm sorry, but X for stiff arm and R2 for sprint?? X for swat ball in coverage instead of L1? Its just plain bad.
Sorry, a couple real obvious things, ALL NFL KICKERS CAN"T KICK KICKOFFS HALF-WAY INTO THE ENDZONE!!!! AND LT OR ANY OTHER GOOD BACK ISN'T GOING TO FUMBLE 3 TIMES EVERY GAME, NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT EVERY FRICKEN DEFENSIVE PLAYED FUMBLES WHEN THEY GET IT. C'mon Tiburon, you're better than that. I don't know if I can stomach the frustration to continue playing the game at all. Im too pissed off even when i win convincingly.
that's all guys, I'm sorry it was such a long ranting, but Madden is what I love. Well, what I DID love. Maybe next year....

Shut up. Anyways to JC, it's really the developers fault because it's hard to work with a PS3 as it takes time to make a quality game on the PS3. But they are being lazy because they have an excuse that the PS3 is hard but they really need to just take their time on PS3 games and work harder on PS3 games.
