Get a team with two 55s and four 50s. Put the power hitters in 55 slots to maximize their effects; support and annoyer slots don't need their levels as much and can be kept at 50.
Make sure your Stat Exp. is up high in order to keep up with your opponents' stats, expecially on the 55s which can use all the stats you can give them. There's not much you can do about DVs without fighting hundreds of battles, but if you feel like building up a team to be as strong as they can, it's worth an extra 15-17 points.

I'll keep that in mind,Jolt.
Here are the movesets:
Snorlax:Body Slam,Amnesia,Double-Edge,Selfdestruct
Ninetales:Flamethrower,Swift,Quick Attack,Confuse Ray
Nidoking:Seismic Toss,Earthquake,Thrash,Horn Drill
Electrode:Explosion,Light Screen,Flash,Thunder
Hypno:Headbutt,Poison Gas,Disable,Psychic
Gyarados:Hydro Pump,Hyper Beam,Surf,Dragon Rage
They're not exactly groundbreaking, but these are from a couple years ago, when I didn't know about movesets and stuff, thats why I have moves like Horn Drill,Thunder,Hydro Pump, etc.

It really depends on playing style. I personally prefer speed over power so out of the listed I would go with:
1)Aerodactyl
2)Gengar
3)Electrode
4)Arcanine
5)Golduck
6)Hypno - slow but psychic comes in handy
When I used to play I won every battle without losing a single pokemon using:
1)Persian
2)Alakazam
3)Golduck
4)Jolteon
5)Dugtrio
6)Gengar
After all what use is a powerful pokemon if it doesn't get the chance to attack?

whats up n00bs
I remember doing this thing a long time ago. I thought it was a little tough because I didn't know any of the cool tricks that made it easy except exploiting TMs from gold and silver like an Alakazam with ice punch and thunderpunch... but now I know how you do it, it's cake.
Your home trained team should revolve mainly around three guys: Alakazam with Thunder Wave, Reflect, Recover and Psychic, a Snorlax with Body Slam, Earthquake, Amnesia and Rest, and a Dragonite with Thunderbolt, Wrap, Blizzard and Thunder Wave.
The strategy is simple, Alakazam goes first pretty much no matter who you're up against, and you go. Paralyze anything with Thunder Wave so they will more likely lose their turn, plus you always get to go first. This buys you time to set up Reflect or stall with Recover until they're paralyzed another turn so you can set up Reflect; then, Psychic 'em to death. Lucky for RBY players, Reflect is really cheap because it never expires unless your guy faints or gets switched out; but with Reflect up physical attacks are gonna do practically nothing, and his Special score is amazing so neither will special attacks. The problem is going against other Psychics, but they'll be scared off by being unable to keep up in damage because Alakazam's Special is right under Mewtwo's for the best in the game.
If Alakazam goes down, send in Dragonite to finish off the current for by spamming Wrap on it, it can't do a thing because of Thunder Wave - it always goes second, and it's the same as a flinch pretty much. Then whoever comes out, take it smart; Thunder Wave / Wrap some more, or if it's a water type, you might wanna switch to Snorlax or an Electric type on your team, since most Water types inheritly get a nice Ice Beam to go with it. But for when you have no other choice, you still have Thunderbolt. Beat Rock / Ground types with Blizzard.
All else fails, Snorlax will last 'till the end with Amnesia and a perfect lack of physical weaknesses, then Rest up when you're below half HP. Bosy Slam will beat everything except Rock types, which is what Earthquake is for. Earthquake also beats the dumb Ghost types because they're part Poison, poison's weak against ground.
Some good alternatives are Zapdos with Thunder Wave and Light Screen, a Tauros with Hyper Beam and Blizzard, and my favorite, a Minimize / Reflect / Softboiled Chansey. Most grass types are too specialized to make good use of their advantages being weak against Psychic, but not Exeggutor; any Exeggutor needs Leech Seed and Explosion. Starmie's also pretty nice since it's the only fast Water type who can have Thunderbolt (sorry Lapras...). Try to keep away from Fire types though, they have almost no good advantages in RBY, and they got raped pretty bad on stats. Moltres with Agility and Fire Spin can do Dragonite's job like Wrap, but Fire Spin's accuracy is only 70%, not too reliable.
Oooh, like that guy said, the Amnesia / Thunder wave Slowbro is really good too, but try to give it Earthquake to scare off Electric types easier.
Think about it. Peace / out.

This is an easy tournament once you get a good team and you have quite the list! I used to go with straight POWER, but that isn't always the best method. Here's my current team, with a balance.
Jolteon- Toxic, Rain Dance, Thunder, Double Edge
Umbreon- Confuse Ray, Zap Cannon, Faint Attack, Shadow Ball
Ninetales- Toxic, Confuse Ray, Dig, Flamethrower
Starmie- Thunderbolt, Psychic, Hydro Pump, Recover
Articuno- Sky Attack, Fly, Ice Beam, Blizzard
Snorlax- Mega Kick, Selfdestruct, Rest, Ice Beam
Granted, these include moves and Pokemon from Stadium 2, but its very good. I have taken out Master Ball with as many as five continues with this team.
